Good selection of Icelandic favorites. Their standard menu has a good variety and they also have daily meal specials. My favorite part was the salad bar with a large variety of vegetables (hard to find in Iceland in winter). Food was delicious and of average Iceland prices. Good location. They also have a play room for children.

This was our first meal in Akureyri and we were pleased with the selection. I loved my fish casserole, my husband enjoyed the lamb and my friend enjoyed the salad bar. We were tempted by the whale so asked for a sample. The chef provided enough for all 4 of us to taste it. Very different but no one chose... More

Bautinn is on the corner of the main shopping street down the hill from the Icelandair hotel. Great selection of dishes. Of the 8 or 10 restaurants we dined at while in Iceland, this was the only one that had a salad bar. Tried the Bautinn Special Slice (beef) and the Whale and both were tasty.

We ate here a couple nights and it never disappointed! They have a great soup and salad bar, and a couple great aquariums to check out! It was always packed with both locals and tourists.

The food definitely wasn't bad- it was pretty average. The service was fine, although it looked like there were only 2 women serving, they were running around and keeping up with everything relatively well. It is definitely a family friendly place.

I have dined at Bautinn many times and over all been very satisfied with the food and the service. I would recommend the fish, I have never got a bad fish dish at this restaurant but some times the steaks fail to meet my expectations. Soups ar great and salat buffet is very nice also.

The food is ok, the problem is pricing and service. Paying almost double the amount you pay for the same thing in Greifinn. The service there is average in speed, but waiters look unhappy wich is not inviting. And rude with out a though.

We just wandered in off the street after arriving in the town and realising we'd missed lunch. The staff are friendly, the food was reasonably priced and plentiful, so this made an ideal stop for us. It is clearly a bit of a haunt for the locals, with a lot of brightly clad, noisy teens and older couples eating, so... More

Nice to have lunch with the locals, and this was full of families, couples and elders. Polite, but slow service. Food was overcooked (lamb) and swimming in butter. Fish stew was ok, but again, too buttery. GREAT salad bar, bread and soup. Would go back for just that (very economical choice, too)

The Buatinn is a pleasant place to eat. Service is good, but a bit pricey. We enjoyed a tasty soup and sandwich.
