Recently met friends for lunch. As it was one of the few sunny days that we have had recently , wanted to sit outside. No problem there, except we only had a limited choice for lunch. Was told if we wanted a main course, would have had to sit inside. this does not make sense, especially when one is talking... More

First visit to the Cpt's Club (went for dinner) and have mixed feelings. The bar and restaurant area is modern and it is clear that some money and effort has been spent. To me it is a bit too modern and sparse to be cosy but it's not a bad place to be. The bar was well stocked, and the... More

Daughters 18th and for a major treat went to the Captains Club. The food was fantastic in every way, the bar staff although knowledgable spent more time concentrating on the tables than the bar area. After ordering our food in the restaurant we unfortunately ended up a main course short. After chasing it down, there was no apology she when... More

I took my mum here twice - once for lunch which was ok (ish) service was dire - they have extended the dining room for lunch but not the amount of staff so service was ok when you got it but SOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow. The second time I took her was for her birthday in the afternoon for a cream tea... More

We had quite a few drinks and some food here with friends on a lovely sunny day. The head waiter is very friendly and welcoming but the service was very slow at times and slightly dis-organised. The tapas plates are excellent and we also had the lamb, Thai green curry, steak and fishcake which were all quite good. The situation is... More

Having had great dining experiences here in the past I was sadly disappointed during my last visit at the drop in quality of the experience for an increased cost. The bar area now forms part of the restaurant so be very specific where you want to sit should you book a table. The range of food smacks of austerity and... More

The Captains Club was always a banker but times have changed.Obviously the owners have decided the bar is their income and the restaurant is just there to support it. We booked into Tides restaurant but when we arrived we were told we were sitting at a table in the bar which was already pretty full and very noisy ,we objected... More

Went to the Captain's Club for a spa day which was excellent, the staff were lovely and the treatments were perfect, it's the best small spa I've ever been to. Lunch was included in the day but you definitely got the feeling that their treatment of you was different to that of full paying diners! The staff were not very... More

This is an excellent hotel with clean well manintained accomodations. The staff is very helpful and cheerful. Traveling as much as I do, I tend to be very critical of hotels. I just could not find anything amiss here. Lastly, the restaurant was very nice in both atmosphere and cuisine. I will be back again on my next trip over... More

This venue ticks all the boxes. We use it regularly both for business and personally. It never fails to deliver quality in service or food. Lovely setting especially when the sun shines. The spa is great too.
