Description: Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table dhote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

I got a good feeling about Linthwaite House when I booked the table. I was asked if we could arrive slightly earlier to have some pre-dinner drinks and chose our meal options prior to being seated in the restaurant. On arrival, we were greeted and decided to sit outside on the patio as the sun was shining and there are... More

We went here for our anniversary meal. What a lovely experience. Relaxed, attentive staff, lovely situation, and fabulous food. Highly recommended.

A last minute decision to have lunch before leaving the Lake District for home proved to be the right choice. We phoned at 11.30 enquiring on a lunch booking, we were advised on the telephone that they were serving from the normal lunch menu and not sunday lunch which I was quite pleased about. Access along the drive requires care!... More

Canapes served with pre-dinner drinks was a nice touch. Creative dishes which were full of flavour. Loved the local Herdwick lamb. Slightly disappointed with the cheese selection.....no local cheese, and no grapes, celery or apple to accompany. Not a huge criticism, more a suggestion to think about.

We searched the Web in the hope of finding a place for a special meal and opted for this hotel. We were not disappointed. From entering, we were made to feel welcome and important. The pre-dinner canapés were delicious, and the knowledgeable and impartial advice we were given to help with our choice of wine was very helpful. Once in... More

What could be better than cosy drinks next to log fires on a wintry day looking out over the frosted trees and gardens to Lake Windermere. Had to ask for staff to take my coat 30minutes following arrival for lunch! Ham hock terrine with homemade piccalili for starters followed by breast of guinea fowl on a bed of tasty vegetables,... What a nightmare! We had dinner and both of us had to send our food back not twice- but three times! (Not cooked to our request, then served cold, and then with only half the veg! And then staff served one of us and expected us to eat our food seperately!!! - absolutely unbelievable!) please note that this was made... More

Was booked into linthwaite house by the owner of the B&B i was staying at. On arrival was presented with a glass of champagne and nibbles. The setting is stunning with open log fires and the atmosphere was very good. However was then left for approx 40 minutes without any service, we kept getting the waiters attention to order some... I got married at Linthwaite just over 2 years ago, and as I was visiting the Lakes with my parents, we thought we would go for lunch. It was as good as ever, food and service both brilliant. We ate off the new terrace menu, which was varied and the food quite substantial. We actually ate in the restaurant as... More
