the food here is very good and the atmosphere is great. An old slab hut with an open fireplace,A little above the average cost but good for a special occasion.
It had been many years since we'd last visited and the food and service was spectacular as ever. Beautifully cooked Lamb and way too much beautiful dessert platter. There's not much else to say.. If you're in Canberra do yourself a favour and visit the Green Herring for Dinner.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the night. We attended in a group of 9. Everything I had was well cooked and extremely tasty. I had the mushroom and leek tart, the rack of lamb and then shared the special dessert platter. Portion sizes were good though struggled to finish dessert. Felt very welcomed by staff. Atmosphere was great. Highly recommended.
Booked this restaurant from Melbourne many weeks in advance for a suprise 60th on recommendation from a friend.Couldnt be more pleased. From the owner, to the staff ,to the building, log fire and of course the superb menu where 11 people on the table all enjoyed everything that was served to them.Three cheers to all involved at the Green Herring!
Good value for money, but generally disappointed with the service. I made one simple request early in the meal, after which the quality of service plummeted and my guests and I weren't made to feel very welcome. Overall not a great experience.
The green Herring continues its tradition of fine food, in a lovely atmosphere. The food is great, the staff are attentive but discreet. Its a great place for dinner, with or without kids.
The Green Herring is a charming little place tucked away in Gold Creek in the ACT, with terrific atmosphere. We had the $29.00 per head autumn special. Two courses with optional desert was every inch value for money. The soup to start was full and flavoursome, I'm not normally a fan of veggie soup in any form, but this was... More
We had been intending to book a dinner here for quite some time but never managed to get around to it. We just happened to be doing some shopping at Federation Square and so were (unusually for us) here on a Saturday at around noon. We saw the sign saying they are now open for lunch on Saturday between 12... More
this restaurant is a long way out of my price range! i have only been once, but the service, atmosphere and food were all of a really high standard. My meal was so large though, i couldn't eat it all and asked to take it with me, they wouldn't let me and i was pretty disappointed about that - but... More
This is a quaint little restaurant hidden away in Gold Creek. The service couldnt be faulted and the restaurant added a nice little touch by writing happy anniversary on our dessert. The pork belly and tiramisu are to die for.
