Just popped in here on my lay night in Melbourne on a friend's recommendation. The staff were very attentive and the food (Veal Ragu) was also good. The restaurant is 'cozy' which helps add to the energetic ambiance.

If you are looking for authentic Italian in warm, inviting surrounds, look no further. Il Solito Posto is it. On a cold Saturday night, weary from walking we wanted a good red and a menu with simple classics -spaghetti amatriciana/ puttanesca, penne ragu etc. Il Solito Posto ticked every box. A fantastic wine list, attentive informed service and generous serves...

Enjoyed a long lunch at Il Solito Posto with friends. Terrific friendly service. We started with the antipasto platter to share - salami/olives/giardinieri/mushrooms/baked ricotta - attractive and plenty of it! Then linguine marinara for some of us and pea/mushroom risotto for others, both perfect. Finished with a shared plate of chocolate semifreddo with mint foam and coffee. Non pretentious food....

Hidden away in a basement of Collins Street, is Il Solito Posto. Accessed via George Pde, the door opens to an authentic Italian restaurant that is so enticing! It's the ideal spot for a romantic lunch or dinner - or a private, quiet catch up with close friends. It is not pretentious; nor is it expensive. But to dine here...

Brilliant service provided by Lindsay who provided us a good knowledge of the wines available. The...

I enjoyed it very much. Service was fast and pleasant. Food was really good. Ambience was lovely also.
Very busy restaurant in a central location. Bookings would be essential. All 3 of us really enjoyed our meals. My scallop and pork belly starter was superb. Service was excellent even given our waiter was on his first day. Very prompt with just the right spacing between courses. Would highly recommend.
Just about 100 metres away from the Grand Hyatt in George Pde is this fantastic Italian eatery. They cater for casual or finer dining. We ate in basement restaurant.
The oysters were excellent as was the scallops and pork belly starter. The mains were a stuffed rabbit and the slow cooked lamb with peas. Both excellent.
For desert the tiramisu...

Il Solito Posto is a great bistro with consistently good food and service. The ambience in this little cellar space is always great as well, although it can get chilly on a cold day!
Food wise, we both had a very interesting chicken liver pasta, which was really tasty and an excellent Tiramisu.
This is one of those bistros where...
