My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here recently. This is a beautiful little cafe. We had a lovely bowl of soup for lunch, accompanied by a glass of white wine each. The selection of wines by the glass is very good and very reasonably priced.

My husband and I were in Wellington for a long weekend and Nikau had been recommended to us. It was so good we went twice. The food is beautifully cooked, presented and the staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and their service was friendly, efficient and fun.

Wow, the pancakes with spiced apple syrup is to die for! From our party of five this morning three had the pancakes and all were ready to lick the plate clean (thank goodness, we are have good manners!). The other two had eggs, which were reported to be just as finger linking good.
I'm a long time fan of Nikau. I've never had a bad experience here and they always have interesting new seasonal items on the menu, alongside favourites like the kedgeree ( which is so good that entire tables order kedgeree all round). Excellent coffee, incredibly tempting baking and friendly service mean I'm back here again and again, bringing friend from...

This little restaurant is worth hunting for, tucked away behind the art gallery in civic square, a short walk from the waterfront it's simply superb. The cooks here give a damn. The love is on the plate as they say on those cooking shows. Don't expect fancy but it's beautifully cooked flavourful food. The best lunch in town
On a recent visit to Wellington we were taken here for lunch by friends. On the whole, it was very nice but maybe more of a place to eat with adults than with children. We had three main dishes: the kedgeree, the mussels and the haloumi. Of those, the kedgeree was by far the winner: it was creamy and chock full...

Very friendly and attentive waiters, great spot to sit outside on a sunny day. They do an excellent coffee and nice meals. Would recommend
As a local I can honestly say this is the best of New Zealand eating. Fresh ingredients, simple menu, but everything is absolutely delicious. It's always busy and hence a bit noisy, but that's just a sign of its success. Have the kedgeree, it's legendary.
Try the sage fried eggs. They are wonderful (but shut your eyes to the amount of butter). Good coffee and pleasant service. Light and airy decor.
