Great food, beer, and hard cider with excellent waitstaff. Generous portions and good selections of top end food and moderate prices.

Yum yum yum! Great range of food options. I'm a vegetarian and I had several yummy dishes to choose from. The food is well priced and hearty. There is a roaring fire place and great atmosphere. We did a Speights Brewery Tour and Lunch package - highly recommended.

Eating here is not posh... if you are looking for table linen and poncy little meals lost on a big white plate then you are in the wrong place. My meal here was GREAT - good servings and a great steak cooked the way I requested. Side dishes were not extra and so excellent value for money. The service was... More

We went here after our tour as part of the package, my only gripe was that the fish and chips were a little oily. Positives were that the portions were huge, the garlic bread was half a loaf of bread! Beer was cold, waitress was wonderfully attentive and for the price you'd be a dope not to have this after... The tour was brilliant, enjoyed every minute of it. The alehouse was beautifully set out and the decor fantastic. The staff honestly couldnt give a stuff about the customers, they are obviously just there to make extra money for Uni. The meal wasnt too bad and drinks good value. One think I didnt like was they took my credit card... More

The tour is rather dry, the sampling at the end is well worth it. Building was under construction due to expansion so expect some dust and areas to be unavailable.

True enough we found their Speight beer was good. Seafood chowder was good and standard but nothing more than that. Perhaps we should try their meats in the future. It's definitely a good place to drop by and have a pint of beer
