Probably our favourite restaurant in Whangarei, and one we go to more than most. Delicious hearty central-European food from a Swiss chef, friendly efficient service, generous portions. Wonderful roesti (much better than hash browns) if ordered earlier in the day.

As a local I had heard great things about this place so my husband and I decided that it would be a great place for an evening out. The food was great, I had the pan fried chicken breast which was served we the most amazing salard. I will certainly be going back again and be recommending it to others.... More

Haven't been to cafe Mozart for ages. The food was great, reasonably priced and a hearty serving. Service was excellent. Decor was unusual, pictures of cars, but that was a minor detail. Would recommend to locals and visitors alike.

We happened upon this restaurant by chance, as we had stopped in Whangarei for dinner on the way to Paihai. Located in the downtown area in a pedestrian area lined with shops, it must have to compete with many others in this, the largest New Zealand city north of Auckland. At around nine in the evening they were out of... More

Lovely funky little restaurant in downtown Whangarei run by Chris, the Swiss owner/cook, who packed in managing some fairly big-name hotels and restaurants around the world for the good life in Whangarei. The main menu has some interesting seafood combinations, as well as the more traditional Kiwi perennials served up with Swiss flair. The lunch specials are particularly good value... More

I ate lunch here with my wife. We were only passing through and happened upon the Mozart by mistake. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had steak and she had a pizza. It was all great. Recommended.

Plenty of room, always warm and cosy, usually a bit of music on offer. Food is cooked from scratch and there is always something a bit different from the run of the mill stuff elsewhere.

Lunch here was tasty and enjoyable. They have a pretty expansive lunch menu and blackboard menu. I enjoyed the unusual "large pork chop"with accompaniments and my wife had the beef cannelloni ($9.50 special) with a beer and a juice. Very pleasant service and a nice quirky atmosphere in a shop which used to be a pharmacy in the early 1900s.... More

Booked for dinner here.....staff friendly enough but very casual dining, not quite what my partner was expecting for a meal out without the kids for a change. They had some live music playing sort of like a jam night but bad enough to give us a laugh..... We used the specials board which was cheap enough.....the meals were fairly basic... More
