I have visited chef cafe three times already in different circumstances and I loved it every time! It is small and refined without being pretentious, the atmosphere and decor is lovely, the service is great, and the food amazing. I like the fact that it has a small menu because every item on it is made with extra care. We... More

We stayed at the Bohem Art Hotel so this lovely restaurant was almost on our doorstep but for some reason we bypassed it each night. On our last night, we couldn't decide where to go and then we had a terrific thunderstorm with torrential rain so that helped us decide - which restaurant is the nearest?! The restaurant was cosy... One street back from the riverside this little secret avoids the crush of the tourists. Small menu but all interesting. Attentive service with good selection of wines. No hassle to free your table so you can enjoy your meal and relax with a book.

We wanted casual but good restaurant after thermal bath without going back to the hotel to dress up but still feel trendy. Chef cafe was perfect, delicious and so friendly. Thank you for the care and we loved the evening!

We found this by accident while looking for somewhere to eat on a very cold night. We had a wonderful waiter- very funny and helpful. We are still talking about the pumpkin soup which was the best I have ever had. Everything was excellent. What a pleasure!

The chef cafe is perhaps not the easiest to find unless youre at the Bohem hotel, but is well worth the visit. The decor is great, the service warm and friendly, and the food excellent and keenly priced. We had some fois gras to start, which was superb, and my wifes main of pasta and cabbage just unbelievable given the... More

Glad i read the reviews and came here - the chicken paprika honey marinade was awesome and they accommodated us sharing the mains very well. 89 euro for 4 mains two entrees and drinks.

Great ambience, great service (even an hour before closing) and fantastic food. Very affordable, even for two destitute uni students! Highly recommend the duck. We went twice in four nights!

This was the last meal we had in Budapest, and only because our flight home had been cancelled so had an extra night...wow!!! If we had known, we would have gone there every night. The chefs attention to detail, service and enthusiasm were brilliant, and you could just tell that the food was his pride and joy. It was absolutely... More

A new favourite in Budapest. 100 times better than the traps in Vaci Utca. But still only 100 m off Vaci, on a parallell street. We were 6 and had å delicious meal with some wonderful hungarian Merlot. We all agreed that this was better than our night before at Rezkakas, and the price was only 60%.(Rezkakas is still a good...
