Have been to Old Ebbitt Grill twice, both times with dining companions of diverse tastes, from the steak and oyster lover to the vegetarian. The menu is expansive and carefully crafted with multiple choices--literally, something for everyone. High food quality, good presentation and excellent service were consistent for all diners on both of my visits. Atmosphere is business casual, somewhat... More

Just wanted to share my recent dining experience at Old Ebbitt. We had reservations for 9 an were seated promptly at 9 so the evening started off great. I was hoping we would be seated in the atrium but instead were given seats just inside the room with windows to the atrium. Little did I know I ended up in... More

Although the history is here and lots of people/energy, the menu is same as Clydes (except higher prices). Why not go to Clydes?

This was a terrific place for lunch, and it's fun to be close to the White House and feel steeped in tradition. The service was fabulous from the moment we walked in the door and every step of the way. We had a lovely lunch, and everyone's menu selections were perfect, from the hamburgers to the salads. We were so... More

We just had dinner last night at the Old Ebbitt and have been frequent patrons over the past few years. It used to be our favorite spot in DC but unfortunately will stick to the bar for soup and a beer. We started out with a very nice waiter but halfway through our meal a nice young woman took over... A very good, traditional american restaurant with a good menu, nice wines, a great atmosphere, good service and some great history due to it's proximity to the White House

A White House security person was kind enough to suggest the Old Ebbitt Grill for lunch after our tour. It was easy to find, great food, atmosphere and service. I tried "Walters Favorite" sandwich and it was absolutely wonderful! Also want to mention that the prices were very reasonable, given its great DC location.

Old Ebbits is a great place to meet friends and co-workers for a meal and/or drinks. The atmosphere lively, but due to the many different halls/rooms in the restaurant, it still maintains a somewhat private feel. The location is great and the decoration adds to the feel of its history as the oldest restaurant/bar in DC.
