Visited this restuarant on a recent trip to Taipei. I was just walking past, it looked very attractive and so went in. The ambience was very good and the food was excellent. I strongly recommend the Wuxi ribs - they were delicious! Will definitely revisit.

Kao Chi’s success today has been largely thank to Din Tai Fong. Both originated their base from the current locations. Kao Chi’s Wuxi ribs and crab-shell pies are still menu that Din Tai Fong does not offer, and locals like. It suffers some quality inconsistence some years back, when Din Tai Fong revised the menu, dropping some of the menu... More

I visited Taipei in March/April of this year and it was the second time I had been to Taipei. The first time we went we focused more on night market food (Shida etc) but this time we tried out more restaurants to eat some really great Taiwanese/Chinese food. Kao Chi serves almost entirely Chinese food but the food is incredible.... More

After all the reviews on tripadvisor, I thought I'd give this restaurant a try ....for an alternative to Din Tai Fung Xiao Long Bao. After all, Din Tai Fung has become the McDonald's equivalent of Xiao Long Bao, and you can find it in almost any other Asia city. Then again, if you have long queues at "fast food" Din... More

When we moved to Taipei, the locals recommended this restaurant and told us not to go to Dingtaifeng, which is right around the corner. They were right. Kaochi serves similar food from Dingtaifeng, but the price is cheaper and there is no wait, and the service is good, too. (we went to Dingtaifeng to try it once, and were highly... More

I went to Din Tang Fung first and had the pork and crab XLB. I went to Kao Chi the next day and think Kao Chi to be just as good for the pork XLB and the crab XLB was better than Din Tang Fung. I thought DTF crab XLB was too oily while Kao Chi was perfect and I... More

My husband and I went to Ding Tai Fung and found it expensive, but the food tasted clean and we thought the crab meat xiaolongbao was pretty good. The next day, we followed a taxi driver's advice and headed into Yongkang street, right next to the "foolish" crowds waiting outside at Ding Tai Fung and just 1 or 2 buildings... More
