Let me first clarify there are 2 restaurants named the same in Ta Hien Street, #14 and #9. Not sure if they are associated. I am reviewing #9. We ate lunch here on day 1 in Hanoi on recommendation of a hotel staff member. Weird looking place - something from yesteryear. Food was quite ok, service not great. It was...

Had lunch here. Family run, tiny steep stairs to get up, but fantastic food. It's a little like dining in a private home.
Ordered the garlic noodles, some kind of fried chicken in a sweet sauce, and the shrimp salad. OMG! Everything was made to perfection! We were not very hungry, but everything tasted so good that we finished everything we ordered anyway. I will be back here for sure!
Good, traditional vietnamese food. Try the fresh spring rolls that you wrap yourself. However, it seemed like the waiters could hardly be bothered to deal with our presence. The service was therefore almost non-existent. But I'll still go back another time for those fresh spring rolls.
Very convennient and friendly ambience. Very good food

This restaurant is on the second floor (up 1 flight of very steep, very narrow...

We went there because that restaurant was recommended by Le Routard. Well, unfriendly staff made us feel unwelcome (the restaurant was crowded) and the food was poor. Additionally, nothing in there looked really clean... And it was not even particularly cheap! There are plenty of more more friendly and better places in the same street, choose them!
