Recommended in Lonely Planet and for once, not disappointed. Service was top-notch and the food great quality and none of our party of 9 were disappointed. Big variety - buffalo was good - and some really interesting tapas - we had the locusts and cicadas which we had no problem finishing (the locusts anyway).
Not cheap by Vietnamese standards but...

Many locals and tourists at this place. Everything we tried tasted good. This place is known for its exotic dishes, and we tried some of them (mountain pork, ostrich meat). Dishes are affordable, ranging from 65k VND to 150VND. Steamed white rice goes for 18k VND per person (this is not on the menu). Prices already include 10% tax, but...

Food is not what we expected- not good and very expensive. They added 10% for tax, 5% for the service and they are really hidden costs. Avoid!
We visited highway 4 due to a recommendation in the Lonely Planet. Disappointing at best. The food was expensive, not that nice, the cocktail-lady quite pushy and they forgot half of our order. All together; not worth the time and money

We haf a great meal there, even tried their crickets! It is however slightly overpriced for what you get!
We went to this restaurant because it was about 4 doors from our hotel and we didnt feel like fighting the traffic to go elsewhere. We were also told that it serves Western food. It doesnt really unless you call crocodile ribs, snails, frogs legs, crickets, locusts and cicadas Western food. We decided to stick with food we had eaten...

It was quite hard to find one eating place for a big group (10-pax) like us. Highway 4 is one of them. Nice ambience with nice food. The price is a little bit higher than the average. We spent around USD8 per person for our lunch.
best food in Hanoi by far, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere for dinner.
