The good point, the staff try hard. The bad points: 1) the starters were awful. Ravioli, the pasta was 1cm thick, the tiny piece of langoustine overcooked and the citrus/lemongrass sauce replaced by fish soup. I sent it back. They still charged the $12 for the view of it! 2) the wine list promises a lot, but all the wines... More

French Food without the French Waiter. Can be a bit pricy for Phnom Penh but if you have the lunch special, several courses plus wine, you can do it for around $15 US. Vans is located in an old French colonial building just beside the post office. The staff is superior . . . a reflection of the management. Food... More

Fantastic food - I had ravioli and a fish dish. Both perfectly cooked. Good French food with obviously a first class chef. wine list a bit of a problem as a number of wines not available but that is fine. It is Cambodia and not France! Very attentive staff who did their best. We went on a Wednesday evening and... More

Our tuk-tuk driver recommended Van's as one of the best restaurants in Phnom Penh, so we decided to eat dinner there. The beautiful brass sign on their gate says it opens at 5 p.m.; we were there @ 5:15, and they said they wouldn't be open until 'about' 6. Since we were catching a flight later that evening, it became... More

The restaurant is old French Colonial. The food is French on a very high level. Service, French without the attitude. Great for lunch and great for dinner.

We took my husband's Khmer colleague and his family to Vans for dinner in the private function room at the back of the restaurant. The gourmet french food was truly delectable and the servings were quite generous. Yes- the prices are steep for Phnom Penh -but are still reasonable compared to Australian prices for the quality of food that was served.The... More

What I like is that the impressive yellow building is both easy to find (being to the left of the old post office) and that it looks like a lovely restored villa in Hanoi with a beautiful courtyard. It was the Bank of Indochina until 1960 when the present family took it over. They remodeled it and opened it up... More

We ate here at the weekend and the place was empty - apparently it's busier during the week. The food was absolutely delicious - I had ravioli stuffed with fois gras then magret of duck which was perfect. I can honestly say it was as good as anything I've had in France. Compared to other restaurants in PP it was... More

Was looking for a special restaurant for my partners birthday. Lovely setting and great staff but we were disappointed with our steaks that we paid 35usd for. Complimentary bread and olives were tasty. Lacked ambience with no music playing
