One of the best red chicken curries I have had in the world.

One of the best red chicken curries I have had in the world.
Staff was very nice, food came very quickly. Menu is huge so it's good to go with a group so you can order more. Two of us ordered 4 dishes (mostly salads & apps) which was more than enough food. Only one dish- buffalo filet rolls- was disappointing. The fruit "freeze" drinks were great as well.
We had to try Makphet because of it's connection to helping street kids. What was charming about it was the service provided by the "students" who tried so hard to get everything just right. Food was okay, maybe we just chose the wrong dishes as we'd just arrived in Laos. But did buy some of the items made by locals...

Being a restaurant owner myself that supports a very similar program for educating at risk youth (in my case Burmese refugees in Thailand at Thai Freedom House through Free Bird Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand) I was very impressed by everything about this place. The food is exceptional in it's own right, the atmosphere is cool, inviting, clean and well...

After eating at Friends Restaurant in Phnom Penh, we knew we had to give this place a try. They run the same program (turning the lives of street kids around). Basically this place runs an awesome show. A good cause paired with amazing food and drinks at a good price is a winner in my book. My favorite Thai (or...

Absolutely fabulous meal - everything is so tasty fresh and complex. After 3 weeks in Laos we arrived at the end of our journey unfortunately but finished it with the best Laos dishes. Great way to linger the taste of your holidays. to top it I had a Hibiscus lime drink to die for. The service was great and the...

Great restaurant. This is a training restaurant for kids from the streets. The service was great. The food is certainly more expensive than probably most any other restaurant in Vientiane. We had papaya salad, tasty Mekong fish and their take on ceviche. I had a wonderful fruit shake that was one of the tastiest I had in all of Laos.
This restaurant deserves its number one rating on Tripadvisor. The food was excellent; some of the best food we've had in nearly two weeks in Laos. Service was good. Moreover, the restaurant serves as a training restaurant for street-working youth and other disadvantaged persons. We visited two related restaurants in Hanoi that run similar programs, and, to be honest, this...

A worth cause with interesting and generally good quality foods, though opening days and times are a bit odd as its often closed? More a social cause than a business enterprise.
I had a coffee coconut shake that was so excellent it was worth traveling back to Laos just to drink it again. The coffee in Vientiane is very good and I was suspicious about adding the coconut, but the end result was fantastic. The food was fine and the cause is certainly worthwhile. This place has a sister restaurant in...
