Fantastic fish eating experience with very good value fish served and cooked by very helpful staff. It is off the beaten track but worth the search. We ate there on two consecutive nights and both meals were first class

I'm not sure where the reviewer in March went but it can't have been to this little treasure. In fact it pains me to share it with you. Really fresh and tasty aubergine and red pepper mezes. And the fried calamari was stunning. Succulent and tender in the lightest of batter with a wonderfully garlicy yogurt dip. To die for....

...or full of it. I'm not sure which. Best meal we had in Istanbul. Period. An authentic experience. I think. I wish I could go again, tonight.
We passed by the first evening, and the owner said fully booked, then we gave it a try the day after (thinking some of the reviews were good, maybe there is something to the place).
Ordered two appetizers and a fish (he just had the farm raised sea bream!, the fish market near by were plush with 20 kinds of...

We had a little trouble finding the place but it was well worth the search. The restaurant is very small but that guarantees individual service. The mezzes were wonderful and the fish was excellent. Not at all pretentious, just fresh fish prepared simply so you can taste the sea. We were surprised with a special plate of cheese to go...

Went here on a US friend's recommendation. The place is unassuming: tiny, casual. We had cold anchovies, grilled calamari (best ever, anywhere, with an amazing yogurt sipping sauce), and grilled blue fish, which made us want to cry. One of us (the foodie) had her photo taken with and embraced the chef. Over the top? Maybe, but this is extraordinarily...

I love this fish restaurant. Fresh fish, good wine, and tucked away in a side street in the old district. I make sure to stop by every time I'm in Istanbul!
Not too far from our hotel (Seraglio) this gem of a find exceeded expectations in every way. I'm not sure what the expectations were from others that didnt review as well- if you are seeking a five star experience, this isnt it. Freshest of fish expertly prepared, friendly locals welcoming and sharing (especially raki ;-) and local history- this is...

We found this restaurant through Istanbul Eats/Culinary Backstreets (http://www.culinarybackstreets.com/istanbul/2012/sultanahmet-dining-secrets/)
Not sure we saw any locals, but it's off the main tourist strip. Tiny place and we arrived on the later side, no problem just getting a table. Mixed meze, one bonito fish for two (the waiter, from Benin, said it would be enough and he was right.), a beer, water...

Went tonight (Oct. 10-2012) and was disappointed. The food was average, service was prompt, and the eatery clean. The earlier posts had elevated my expectations and after settling the bill I simply felt it all was just satisfactory. Perhaps, it was an off night.
