A friend brought us to this restaurant for our last meal in Korea before leaving the country. The setting is particularly beautiful and restful, with details in the decor that lend to balance and peace (many living plants, skylight letting in natural light, beautiful woods, floor mats, unbleached linen napkins). The food was plentiful and the tastes varied from bland...

Sanchon is a destination. . . pay more and go in the evening (reservations may be necessary during weekends in peak seasons) and catch the intimate floor show! It's pricy, so I generally go when I have guests in Korea or for special events. . . but the food keeps coming, and it's all excellent and made from fresh vegetables...

I had high expectation of this place, being a vegetarian. The place looks pretty cool with raised wooden floor. You have to sit on the floor. We went there for lunch. They only have set menu. The presentation was beautiful. Taste? just ok. I am glad to try it but wouldn't do it twice.
I went here as the one American with my colleagues from Korea, japan and china. We had a great time and the food was very unique. The lotus root pancakes were the best, and I really enjoyed the rice wine served in wooden bowls, it hand a fizzy zing I have not tasted before. The entertainment was excellent, the dancers...

If you think you've tried asian temple good - you haven't until you've been to Sanchon.
The atmosphere at first in the entrance hall is a bit tacky, but those thoughts quickly vanish when you sit on the heated floor, under pseudo-temple like lighting and furniture that is just about on the right side of having character. The atmosphere is...

Went to four vegetarian restaurants during my and my husband's visit to Seoul, and found Sanchon to be the most beautifully decorated and offer the widest selection of food. We also found the food the be the most bland we had in our 5-day trip to Seoul. We enjoyed the scenery, but not the food.
The meal is fixed. They...

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we went to try this Buddhist temple cuisine. The restaurant is located inside a narrow alley of Insadong. The building has Korean style roof with small rock decoration outside. The inside atmosphere is exquisite. You pass through the store that sells the food and utensils they serve in the restaurant. You sit on the floor and...

Sanchon can be quite difficult to locate if you do not own a decent navigating device. Located at the end of one of the many alleys branching out of Insadong-gil, the pleasure on arrival is immense. Housed in a hanok, dining here is a cultural experience.
Food is served pretty quickly. The assorted vegetable tempura is notable. If you enjoyed...

Where to begin? The ambiance is fantastic, you get a real sense of otherness and authenticity when youngo to the dining area. Hard to describe, it is just something you should do. There is even some in situ entertainment provided by a small group of very old Korean ladies. I am not even going to try to describe the entertainment,...
