Just a fantastic place to stroll and people watch, and shop if you are inclined. Need to be a bargainer but have fun with it. Off 1/4 what they ask, then bargain from there. Remember that the people of Egypt are having a hard time economically, so don't get too harsh--they need help. More than 1000 stalls so lots to... More

Many old Egyptian and pharaonic (not original) antiquities and papyrus sovenirs are sold there. Fameous Egyptian Kabab (grilled lamb) restaurants are also located there.

Khan el Khalili lives up to its reputation and it is amazing! A real market with a real market atmosphere including tiny winding little alleys that have all sorts of goodies to buy. The only negative thing I would say is they do realise the tourist trade pays more than the regulars, so they are good at hooking tourists. Do... More

If you want to do fun shopping for good souvenirs, that’s the place to go in Cairo. You’ll find everything you want in this ancient bazaar. Negotiate your price, don’t give up and don’t be afraid to walk away. You’ll be amazed on the results, specially now when the number of tourists is low in Cairo.

Liked the place for the souvenirs you can pick up from lamps , miniatures pyramids and other stuff...even some costume jewellery. Disliked the place for the amount of shopkeepers who keep rushing after you and the amount of bargaining you need to do since they mark up the prices by 6 to 8 times the actual value mayb more ...so... I loved going to Khan el Khalili in Islamic Cairo. There are many shops and things to see. Make sure you travel deep inside the markets. You can find great leather purses, beautiful brass plates, jewelry. I went here almost every night during my stay.

This place is fascinating and a must visit. It has shops and stalls selling everything from quality items to touristic trash. The place abounds with cafes and coffee shops. There are some genuine antiques here and you can get a bargain if you know what you are looking for. You will get hassled to buy or stop for a drink,but... More

We went to the Khan el Khalili both for drinks and for food. It's a wonderful haven from the bustle outside and yes, it does feel a but like going back in time. It serves Egyptian food and a great range of drinks which are very Egyptian and very refreshing. The waiters were attentive and I thought the service was... More
