Don't be put off by the hutong enviroment and the difficulty in finding this place. This is one of the great dining experiences. The sight and smell of the ducks hanging over the open wood fire hits you as you navigate throught this tiny restaurant. If you don't speak Chinese ensure your hotel books for you and comunicates with the...

This place is worth it. You can see the way they prepare and cook the duck. The food is a little expensive but it is worth the trip if you are in Beijing. Make sure you follow the signs in the Hutong. It can be a little tricky to find at night.
We went here during our stay in Beijing. It's definately hard to find (ask your concierge to help you) They also dont speak English very well so get the hotel to book for you as it is VERY busy and rightfully so. We pointed to the pictures and got the banquet for two. Or say "Jiu Yao ni tuijian de"...

If you want pristine surroundings, great lighting and a clean environment - go elsewhere.
If, on the other hand, you're seeking good roast duck in an authentic setting, with community loos down the street...well this is it. :-)
Thoroughly recommended. Ideally you'd want four people to have fun with the menu, but even two is fine.
The place has become...

Beijing Kaoya is a classic dish which everyone should try at least once
I recently visited Beijing for the first time and my husband and I searched out this restaurant after seeing it on a travel show. It is truly a real Beijing experience, set in an old Hutong, tucked away in some back streets. The dusk was superb, the atmosphere was so Chinese and the service was efficient and charming. We did...

If you like off the beaten path and even kind of dumpy spots with great food, this is it. The ducks roast in an oven you walk by on your way in (and that's after you manage to find the place, buried in a hutong south of the peoples' park....). Filled with young patrons and extremely minimal in furnishings, you'll...

An interesting experience, the duck was average but the other sidedishes such as lotus root were excellent. Also fun to check out all the photos of their famous vistiors
My friends and I wanted to experience a Peking Duck restaurant like the locals. I'm not sure the locals frequent this place because all we saw were tourists when we visited. The food was amazing and the service was spot on. We were even surprised by how good the house wine matched the meal.
The restaurant has a bit of...
