If you are going to visit Jakarta, this restaurant needs to be on your to-do list. Beyond its food and 5-star presentation, Lara Djonggrang (and the rest of Tugu Group restaurants) provide a dining experience unlike any other. The restaurant is filled with antiques and has themed rooms based on different parts of Indonesian culture and history. The Presidential Room... More

Many of the reviews agree that while foreigners find Lara Djonggrang offers very authentic ethnic Indonesian cuisine, locals find the food bland. I agree with what's been said but I will add that most of the dishes were cooked quite well which makes it somewhat surprising that the food doesn't taste better. The sate lilit (fish sate on lemongrass) was... More

A huge banyan tree is at the entrance of the restaurant. When you walk in, the interior is a scene in itself. From the ceiling, to the walls, to the table, chairs, toilets, everything is beautifully indonesian. Food was oh so mouth watering and delectable. Pricey but worth the food and the ambiance, must not missed if you want to... More

I have heard about Lara Djonggrang from a long time ago, people have been saying that it is must visit place if you want to experience authentic Indonesian food. And I just had the chance to visit last month. Since all the hype was positive, I was disappointed at the fact that the food was flat. I ordered the Sate... More

I guess if you're a local Indonesian, Loro Djonggrang does not offer too much to renew your love for Indonesian cuisines. The choice of flavor and seasoning makes most of the place's menus quite ordinary as opposed to the taste we have grown so accustomed to as we grew up. The ambiance and nuance this place has about it, though,... More

I was here for a dinner just last night with my wife.. We were quite excited and came with soo many high expectation knowing that we loved other restaurants owned by the same management (Tugu Hotel) Ambience: The surroundings are beautiful with a very large tree outside and pretty ornaments and candles being put outside. At the inside, interior have... More

The ambiance of Tugu group is very well perceived. They write personal name on a leave, exactly like every Tugu Hotel. The menu, taste, and presentations are great. For every foreigner who come to Jakarta for holiday or Business, this restaurant is worth to try. Come during weekend, and get the surprise to see how the waiters serve your food.... More

Lost on the road to find this restaurant. Well, I love the ambiance, layout, and sure the food. My boyfriend said that finally he found the best Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice). But for me I enjoy my authentic of Indonesian food.

In the old days, Oasis was the place to be if you wanted to treat your guests to a Rijsttafel. Very colonial, very expensive and obtrusive batak singers. But: an experience. And now Lara Djonggrang. The owner knows about antiques, about Java, about atmosphere. He has proven that in Malang in Tuguh Park Hotel. Lara Djonggrang is what Jakarta has... More
