if this is the 1 on Race course Rd then its not popular with the locals and u will mostly find tourists here. the biryani is not even worth a try. better try Aromas of India just further down from them. although the fish head curry which Singapore is famous for was pretty good
The name "Banana leaf" comes from their style of serving the food on literally a banana leaf. The site of steamed white rice served on a green banana leaf is bound to increase your appetite and make sure you have space in your belly to accommodate all the servings there :)
We recently went here for lunch and had one of the best currys we've ever eaten. Amazing! Good portions, well spiced, beautiful flavours. Just make sure you check your bill carefully, as we had a couple of extra things placed on it... It was good value (after the extras had been taken off!). I would highly recommend.

There are different sizes but the portion is huge, therefore I would suggest you order the smallest size. Drinks can be a little expensive...

Went for dinner on a Sunday about 6pm and it was quiet and plenty of tables available. You now order by iPad which is cool. The flavours and spicyness were much more intense than Indian food in Australia, although we soon adjusted. After a long walk around the local Little India shopping streets (an experience in itself) a well-priced beer...
