We tried the cookies and brownies and both were excellent. Coffee was excellent as well. Would highly recommend this Cafe especially for a snack on your way to Machu Picchu.
Pretty strong coffee brewed here by the folk from the Albergue Ollantaytambo. The have wifi as well but give the code only to train passengers if they buy a coffee as well. That seems fair enough.
We stayed at El Albergue and had lunch as soon as we got there. The food was fresh and good and held us over until dinner. We actually had dinner at Café Mayu twice during our three days in Ollantaytambo. The food was excellent! I had the lamb (yum!) and the alpaca, which was good! I didn't know what to... More
This small restaurant is on the main street from the square, just across the river. Quiet and nice with a friendly wait staff. Try the alpaca steak.
This restaurant is part of the hotel called El Albergue located right on the train station platform. I usually avoid hotel restaurants however this one was exceptional. I had previously tried alpaca and found it dry and chewy. Before I ordered the alpaca the waiter reassured me that it would be very tender. Sure enough it was. Cooked to medium... More
We only went by here to grab coffee since I love good coffee and was hopeful about it after reading the reviews on TA. We got three cappuccinos and a latte (I couldn't tell the difference). The taste was pretty good, but the barista seemed annoyed to have to make the coffee and wasn't friendly. Also, the coffee felt not... More
Give the stalls outside the station a miss and head onto the platform (turn right at the gate) to get a great coffee, hot chocolate or whatever, plus some excellent brownies and/or cheesecake, apple pie, etc. Service can be slow, especially in the evening when dinner is being served in the restaurant of the Hotel Albergue (its the same place),... As we waited for our morning train to Aquas Calientes, we grabbed a cup of fabulous cappuccino. The coffee was so great that we decided to make reservations for dinner upon our return the next day. What a great decision. The food was delicious (my only gripe - they were out of the specials and chicha by the time we... More
And by town I mean South America. This place is great whether you are staying in town or heading to Machu Picchu. Good wifi, great breakfast.
Just had a expresso while waiting for the train to Machu Picchu and was impressed. The best I had in the 8 weeks travelling in South America. I also enjoyed the free-Wifi and sitting at the table.
