Good local food in a well run restaurant. Plenty of good quality local dishes to choose from along with traditional entertainment.
Last night I went with a group of colleagues, all from different nationalities, total a party of seven. Service was slow, and the waiter in a rush. Food was very good at a reasonable price. At the moment of the check, some of us had cash, others card. The waiter said we had to pay either all by cash or... More

Had a really nice meal at this quaint traditional Bulgarian restaurant. Extensive menu of many home made dishes. They have their own dairy, and process their own meats...baked goods are all home made, too. Had a wonderful shepherd's spicy pepper and yogurt dip, home made pastrami, and garlic bread. We split a mixed grill that consisted of four home made... More
After catching the tram and walking a short street, we found this restaurant. We ate hearty fare like venison and a traditional chicken sache. There were plenty of options for our children and they ate shish kebabs and omlettes. The prices were quite good and the atmosphere excellent. The staff were very attentive and informative about the restaurant and the... More
We ate here as a group at the end of June. It unfortunately hammered with the rain and the restaurant for a Saturday night was not busy. We arrived in dribs and drabs (we were 15) and unfortunately the first ones there took up the offer by the restaurant to order for us. I was set on a specific item... More
Colleagues recommended that we try this restaurant - an inspired recommendation as it turned out. We turned up without booking and were lucky to get a table outside under the wisteria. The food was tasty, the portions large, the menu extensive and very interesting. What more can I say ? Well I went back twice. Hope you enjoy as much... More
This is the place where you can try real Bulgarian food. The atmosphere is very traditional and there you can hear real Bulgarian music. Food is delicious. Prices are reasonable. It is a good place for family and business.
Very good native Bulgarian atmosphere. The chairs, tables, servers and even singers singing old Bulgarian songs. The food is excellent too, many native Bulgarian dishes.
Although Pod Lipite is very much a restaurant within the city of Sofia, it goes out of its way to provide an atmosphere, menu and even live music of the Bulgarian countryside. Advisable to book well in advance, though, as it has become popular with groups and can be full any night of the week.
