We visited shortly after they moved to the new location and thought that both the food and service had drastically declined in quality. We thought we'd give it another try but were disappointed again-- the food was mediocre and overly salty, and the service was inattentive and disengaged. Totally not worth it.

We stopped in on Friday night for a meal at the bar. Jim and I both had the steel head trout piled with fried onions and salsa verde, which was divine! The bartender is great, the maître'd is a classic. Great food, great company, what more could one ask for?

The host, Emmanuel Proust, is a friendly, enthusiastic and helpful person who really adds to the experience. He recommended a special appetizer of ravioli stuffed with frogs legs that was delicious. I had a great duck with polenta. My husband had a chicken fricasee, which had a nice taste but wasn't what we would consider fricasee - it seemed more... More

The food was as one would expect at a French bistro and was very good; some will find it a little pricey for the portions and, as is typical, everything is a la carte. The scallops were very good (4 scallops for the entree); the escargot appetizer was good but seemed lacking in robust flavor. The ambiance was very nice... More

I came here for my fiance's birthday and it was amazing. The food was beyond excellent. They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions (gluten free) and were able to steer me in the right direction when it came to which selection would be best even without gluten products being used. My fiance loves the rose water martini that they... More

If you're looking for fine food in a quiet, tasteful atmosphere, then this is the best in Amherst. The prices are about the same as other Amherst/NoHo quality restaurants. Chez Albert has French food, oysters, and good wines.

When Chez Albert opened, it was one of the new "adult" places in town and served nice, well handled, if simple, food that was reasonably priced. Now, it is just really over-priced. I find the food pretty meh, bland, uninteresting. Portions are tiny and the tasty parts of the dishes (sauces, etc.) are just a 1/2 a teaspoon on the... More

This is one of Amherst's pricier establishments and so I had high expectations which were not met, unfortunately. Four of us sat at an outdoor table, which was pleasant. The service was not great. The food was absolutely tasty but the portions were miniscule. The main course of codfish appeared to be about 3 ounces and was accompanied by just... More

Had dinner at Chez Albert tonight for my birthday. I was hoping for something special, unique. The food was good but could have been gotten at any fine dining restaurant. My husband had the salt cod beignets which he said were tasty. He and my son had the salmon special for their main entree. It was fine but not very... More

Tonight we went to Chez Albert, located on North Pleasant Street in Amherst Massachusetts, for an excellent dinner. Their original site was just up the street where we have eaten before, but this new address gives them more room to serve more people and in the milder weather an outdoor dining space. The look of the new dining room is... More
