“Great view, very so-so food”

Without a doubt the worst meal we had in over two weeks in India. Vegetarian food in Southern India is usually wonderful, very fresh with vibrant flavor. This wasn't. The food is good and value for money. A centrally located restaurant which offers north Indian Cuisines. But South Indian food is better. Stick to the local flavour or else you will have masala dosa filling in a Samosa!

“Roof with a view!”

We arrived at 6pm so we could see the sunset and the gopurams of the Meenakshi Temple light up and we had a great view, in fact most of the tables have a view. An added bonus was the ice cold beer and the food was better than average for a city business hotel too.

“excellent food and view...wonderful staff”

all the food was yummy...couldn't finish everything! View of Temple was amazing and wonderful to witness at sunset. And, we were lucky enough to be there to witness fireworks at the end of a festival weekend!! Great night all the way around

We visited the Surya restaurant based on the TripAdvisor reviews and the restaurant really justified the reviews. The view of the Meenakshi Amman Temple is truly amazing. “Visit for the temple view”

We have visited here only because of the temple view and view was amazing. But as for as the food is concerned it was very average and some were not good at all. Since it is continental cuisine, we ordered veg spring roll(average), Baked Potato with Garlic sauce(Not Good) and Triveni juice(average). One can visit this place only for Temple... More

My partner and I had lunch here the other day at the restaurant inside. The food was very very good. I would defiantly recommend some of the starters. Our meal (Indian food) was delicious. February 2012 we spent two days in madurai. We were taken to this roof top restauarant by our guide Vasanth. This was a beautiful venue overlooking the temple with cool breezes and food and service equally as good. Everythig he ordered for us was outstanding.
