This is one of my oldest restaurants that I have been visiting since childhood. The Soto Ayam is really good and highly recommended.

Has been a regular customer in their Jakarta Branch in Wolter Monginsidi so had to pay a visit to the original spot. The soup is excellent as expected. Very crowded unlike in Jakarta but the wait is not too long. There is hardly any chicken meat, however, and that is kind of upsetting seeing other traditional places in East Java...

sad to say its not what i was expecting. its was really good when it first opened. sadly the last time i visited there the size has gone down alot. almost half. although the taste is still good, but you would be getting less now.
In Surabaya, I feel that whatever soto is delicious.... This one, I will recommend of course ! :-) And I always love to eat it...everytime I am in Surabaya
it was good back in the days, but nowadays the soto is less and less, they sometime just give you some chicken very thin slice that you literally can count it. used to be good, too bad nowadays isn't that much of anything anymore
Soto Ambengan is quiet good soto place, the spicies are just perfect. The only thing that bothered me a lot is that the restaurant tend to be out of the foods quickly. So lot of times you could find yourself without too many option of meat etc to put into your soto..
Small place but nice food, cheap price, clean, good service also, before i don't know if this place have really nice soto ( food from indonesia ) , when i see many people go there, then i try, finally for me perfect, but maybe when you try in another city, you will feel different taste, i don't know why, but...

the soup was okay, cheap too. some people says it's delicious but for me it just average since there's a lot of vetsin at their soto ayam.
Almost tasteless, VERY few slices of chicken, and the broth is not tasty anymore. And the prices are not that cheap
Great Soto as always, and I like the extra bumbu that you put on top of the soto, Please ask for the rice separate from the soup....And always come around 2-3 oclocks....much quite
