A very good selection of local fare. Taste good too and cheap. Probably not very healthy, with all the grease...

It's perfect! Traditional kind of Hangzhou food. It's a good choice for a visitor to HZ. Good! But it's the same as The Grandma's. 'Wai Po Jia' does mean 'The Grandma's' in Chinese!

Basically, I agreed with everyone's comment below. Affordable and delicious dishes. The selection can be overwhelming. We really liked the Grandma's braised pork belly (similar to the famous local dish "dong bo ruo", but bigger portion and the marinade/sauce is better. As well, we enjoyed the green tea, sesame pancake. They provide self-served tea to customers, but their chilled lime/lemonade... More

It was one of the cheapest meal we had in Hang Zhou. Our family members are not big eaters, we're eating a lot lesser compared to an average Chinese in China. Therefore, our bill may come a lot cheaper compared to an average Chinese family. But still, this restaurant is really cheap! We're a family of 6, we ordered 7... More

Love the food variety and the generous serving. Price are reasonable. Opens 1030am - 11pm continuously. So if you can avoid peak hrs, you do not need to queue. Must eat: Ma La Pot Sliced Fish - fish meat is tasty & no bone. Other dishes are as good.

If you are wondering what type of food the locals dine in or traditional food that the area serves, look no further than Wai Po JIa. The restaurant however is not named into "Grandmas" so be careful not to simply look for a shop named "Wai po Jia". The name Wai po jia is a mandarin meaning grandmas. The shop... More

I read the review of this restaurant on Tripadvisor and made my way to the restaurant on our last night in Hangzhou. There was a queue when we arrived at 6.30pm but it moved relatively fast. We got a Q number and waited for our table. When it finally was our turn, we were lead to a packed but very... More

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Had a long wait as it was really crowded. The food was not bad and I m intending to return to the restaurant once again, especially to try their pancake once again. Staffs are rather busy and can be more attentive towards guests' needs. I would say the food is good... More
