Fresh ingredients, sauces and dough, I have not tried one of their specialty pizza's that I don't like. A little more expensive than your other chain options in town but its deffinately worth the extra couple of bucks. A couple of my favs are the Skeletonwitch Pizza named after the local band and the nugent which has enough toppings to... More

Don't leave Athens without trying out Avalanche Pizza. It is a local pizza joint that (according to their website) make their pizzas with local, eco friendly and humane produce. Even their pizza boxes are plain brown cardboard boxes (apparently printed boxes harm the environment). It is nice to see a restaurant so keen on preserving nature. As for the food,... More

Love this pizza joint. It is unique from the pizza itself to the hilarious advertising to the delivery cars dressed up like Halloween. The pizza is for any kind of taste or mood imaginable from strict vegan to meat lovers. The local ingredients are fresh right down to the spelt crust if you venture there. Kimchi on pizza? Try it!... Unbelievable amount of toppings to choose from! Has to be the most Vegetarian options I have ever seen on a pizza menu. Pizzas are always beau-ti-ful, loaded with toppings & baked to perfection! The tiramisu is also quite excellent.

The best pizza in Athens, the amount of toppings and freshness of the food stands out. Great for dinner or a late night snack.

When I first moved to Athens, I was definitely an Avalanche regular. It didn't help that I lived right down the street on Hudson Avenue, and could easily walk there. Since then, five years later, I've finally learned the art of self control and treat myself to Avalanche only occasionally. It isn't a quality issue- it's that it's too darn... More

My family loves pizza. We've been to all the usual chains (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa John) and Avalanche is by far the best. The crust is fresh - never frozen, unlike the big national chains. Ingredients are local, when possible. I stick with traditional toppings, but my family loves some of the more unusual toppings (BLT, for example). The point... More

I am traveling through the Athens area and was looking for a good pizza. I saw the reviews on the area pizza places and decided on Avalanche. I ordered the "K 2" and asked for the green peppers to be replaced with bannana peppers. The only dissapointing part of the visit is that they wouldn't replace the topping without an... More

Try the bread, try the pizza, by all mans try everything that they offer at the farmer's market, and keep your money local.

The cheese was wonderful, No fake plastic stuff like on some pizzas. The ingredients tasted fresh and intense.
