This a restaurant that we found one night ourselves (not recommended to us) and it was by far one of the best meals we've ever had! The service was excellent and the food was superb! I had the traditionally cooked fish and my husband had the beef cheek. We will be back on our next visit this year! £80 for... More

We enjoyed a nice meal here! With hindsight, we'd have preferred to have sat in the courtyard but hadn't booked so were on one of the tables in the alleyway outside! Nice but it is, we feel, a bit off putting with people passing close by all the time!! The food was very nice, the staff friendly. Slightly expensive but... More

This was definately the best meal we had whilst on holiday in Croatia. A lovely scenic and romantic setting in a courtyard and side streets, friendly staff and good service. We shared a scampi tempura to start with, which was light and tasty. Then for our main courses I had monkfish and my partner had the Hvarska gregada (traditional island... More

Wandering around the cool back alleys to escape the 30C+ heat we found Giaxa. We had a excellent 3 course lunch that brought all the flavours of the island together.

The food is amazing. Highlight on the beef carpaccio and chocolate soufflé. Not cheap but worth it. Local tasty and fresh ingredients in the hands of a very gifted chef made it for me. I have high standards when it comes to food and this place met my expectations. The setting is also wonderful, in the shade of centuries old... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and were quickly impressed! The prices were really reasonable considering the service and food presentation. Beautiful setting once you enter. Best food we had in our week in Hvar. They have fab desserts which can't be said for many of the other restaurants in Hvar town. Try the chocolate souffle! The waiter was... More

Lovely restaurant and dining experience from when we walked in - we were sent to Giaxa by a friend who recommended it and were not disappointed! My husband ordered the pre-fix dinner menu (29 euro) which was a deal - included 6 oysters, the Hvarska gregada (fisherman's traditional preparation of fish), and a dessert (of which, the waiter kindly let... What a beautiful place INSIDE -skip the outside as you probably have been doing that quite a bit already. The renovations of this old palace are true to form. you feel like you have stepped back in time. I had lamb which was excellent and my husband had the waitor's fish recommendation which he enjoyed. My daughter had the chicken... More

Quite a good restaurant in most respects - well located in the Hvar old town. The decor was great - nice mix of contemporary and medieval, with well chosen modern art. The food was good, without being great, and priced about the Sam a the other better restaurants in town. Service was pleasant, if a bit functional. But it just... More

Fantastic bistro, try the monktail with shrimp reduction and also the fish gregada. Terrific desserts with chocolate mousse and chocolate sphere with berries!
