I had the monster burrito veggie style which was amazing with asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower. So filling and a great price. The homemade hot sauce was incredible and you can buy it to go too! My margarita was refreshing and boozy. The owner came and talked to us and was unbelievably friendly. A must stop!

I've been to Mexico a few times and this restaurant serves much better Mexican food. The owners were friendly and the service was phenomenal. The restaurant has a unique mexican/new-york style decor with a wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed chips, salsa and some of the best guacamole I've ever had, burritos and chocolate mousse dessert.. delicious! The portion sizes are large... More

The atmosphere, the servers and owner, the service and the food are all very good. The portions are generous. I had the Sopa on my second visit and it was wonderful.

Went to Jalapenos at the suggestion of our hotel, Pura Vida. As a previous reviewer mentioned, we were approached by someone wearing a reflective vest who said they would 'guard' our vehicle....saw them doing similar to other vehicles during our visit. When we left we gave him 250 colones (roughly 50 cents)....no big deal. The restaurant itself is small and... More

This small Mexican restaurant has top reviews but the night we were there it was definitely a "Trip Adviser creation." Everyone in the place was a tourist - 100%. The food was OK but certainly not outstanding. Pretty bland Mexican food if you're from someplace that has good Mexican restaurants, or cook it well yourself. Parking is on the street... More

Kathy, I truly apologize for your uncomfortable experience at my restaurant. It is our continued purpose to have people leave happy, and mainly to meet all or most of their expectations. If you ever find yourself in town I will gladly refund your money, and suggest a costa rican restaurant. In Costa Rica you will always find someone on any... More

We were in the mood for something casual. We had been having big, several course dinners for a week and wanted something light. Our hotel, Pura Vida, recommended Jalepenos. We were extremely happy to meet, upon arrival, Norman, the English speaking owner. He stands outside and welcomes his patrons when not inside making sure you are being well taken care... More

Great place, great food, OUTSTANDING host. Norman, the owner of Jalapeno's, is the reason the restaurant is so good and the best feature of the place. We finally moved to Costa Rica after eight years of visits, and this is our favorite restaurant by far.

When we drove up to Jalapeño Central we were happy to see it is a 'mom and pop' restaurant and not a huge place....about 7 or 8 small tables....it is cozy, funky and overall our kind of place. We both ordered the beef enchiladas as a complete dinner which comes with refried beans, guacamole, rice and pico de gallo....ALL was... More
