My husband and I spent a few days in Costa Rica and were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant that served French Toast, Pancakes and syrup, as well as traditional Costa Rican dishes. The owner Mike and his wife Bea take genuine pride in showing hospitality to visitors. They also speak English which was a help since we are still... More

My wife and I were regular customers at Ka'Kau. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner there and took things to go as well. We were NEVER disappointed. Maik is quite simply the best baker in San José and his professionalism is admirable. And Bea is quite simply the best hostess you can imagine. If I could name one thing I... More

We had been driving all day and my husband was just saying how much he would love a big breakfast... We pulled up and checked out the menu and the... More

I got hooked on this place at first for the desserts--try the bread and butter pudding, by far my favorite dessert ever. The place looks more like a nice open bakery but I discovered the food which is excellent. Great breakfasts, good burgers too. The restaurant serves better food than many other restaurants recommended to me in the area. I'll... More

Brilliant food, always fresh, lovely desserts Banana-Toffee is just so delicious, I would highly recommend Ka'Kau to anyone looking for the tastiest, freshest food in town, using really fresh, high quality ingredients. Staff is helpful and welcoming, and the shop itself is beautiful.

I love having an afternoon Expresso with a pastry, theirs are so exquisite! Simply put I love everything they have on the menu and I particularly... More

The staff and owners are super friendly and attentive and we're greeted and given a menu within a minute of sitting down, which is quite rare in Costa Rica. As for the food selection, it is a mixture of breakfast, lunch and delicious pastries. It turns out that the owner and head chef is a trained pastry chef, so, we... More

My husband and I visit Costa Rica many times a year and on every trip we go to Ka'Kau They have the best breakfast (French toast is an absolute must) and lunch,(you have to try their steak sandwich).
