Very well organised, well kept real beer, super food and a warm welcome. Accommodation very comfortable. An ideal base for a break in a quiet rural setting with easy access to a range of tourist attractions.

I stay at the Crown and Garter regularly when in the area with work. It is, without question, one of the best I have ever stayed at. If one wishes a good restaurant, and hotel, where to stay, the Crown and Garter is a lovely place. It has been modernized recently, but there is still a good pub atmosphere, especially when the wood stove is going! One can only be grateful for those pubs who still offer a lovely warm place to meet and eat.

We decided to use this pub as it came recommended in walking guides but be warned as was charged £8 for two orange juices and lemonade. Not sure why they used bottled orange juice as they had a jug of it like most pubs on the side.

You won't find a better pub - anywhere. the food's good - the staff are friendly. And the price isn't bad either!
