Our favourite place to dine at this time of year is in the Harbourside Restaurant at the Pier. It overlooks the river and on a warm Saturday evening it was perfect. We arrived at 7.20pm and had drinks at the bar, 1 gin and tonic (Tanquery) 1 gin and tonic (Gordons) this came up with some olives and nuts. The... More

We enjoyed an excellent meal on our recent visit to the pier, the fish was beautifully prepared and served at the right pace.

Having arrived in Harwich mcuh too early for the ferry back to the Netherlands, we asked George (the super-nice fish monger in Morrison's in Harwich) if there was somewhere nice to eat dinner while we waited. He suggested The Pier......wow! The Pier restaurant is alone worth the trip to Harwich! Great food (crab/scallops for starters, lobster for mains, and cream... More

We ate here at lunchtime on a Friday and we were very impressed with the menu and quality of food we ordered. We liked the idea of noting your menu choices and taking them to the bar on the note pad from the table, this enabled us to choose and order in our own time. The food was then promptly... More

Decided to stay the night in Harwich before catching the morning ferry to Hook of Holland. So, where to eat? After a short drive we found The Pier, and were very pleasantly surprised to have an excellent evening meal, with friendly service in charming surroundings. We were downstairs rather than in the first floor restaurant. Well worth knowing about, and... More

The Harbourside restauarant is upstairs and is a smart restaurant. We have been going there for a number of years. There is a good view over the Harwich and Felixstowe ports and the busy water way between the two which, in summer, is full of pleasure craft and the occaisional ferry or freighter. We have been dining here over a... More

we couldn't get a table last time we visited Harwich, but the food looked so good we were determined to give it a try and we were not disappointed, it was excellent. Interesting menu, freshly produced food and all with great service at a reasonable price. Real ale too and a good range of wine.

You would not expect a quality restaurant at the end of the road in Harwich but there is one and it is called The Pier. The restaurant is in the hotel of the same name and is part of the Milsom chain of hotels and restaurants. Over the years I have been dining at The Pier a number of times... More
