We were staying at the Inn at Fawnskin and inquired about a place for dinner. Sweet Basil was one of the Innkeepers favorites and it did not disappoint. It is hidden under the bowling alley and yet once you open the door your in a quaint bistro. We did not have reservations and if you go on a weekend you... More

The service we got from our waiter was very professional and courteous. He happened to be the bartender there and doubled as a waiter when it was slow. He made my wife a great margarita, but my dry martini tasted pretty terrible. For a $13 martini, you would not expect to taste the bitterness of the vodka. However, it was... More

As a B&B owner in Fawnskin, I want our guests to have a fabulous experience during their stay, and Sweet Basil Bistro is at the top of our list of recommended restaurants. It's family owned and operated, so the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and friendly. The menu choices are just enough to choose from without being overwhelming-all fresh, delicious meals,... More

I enjoyed my steak with Gorgonzola stuffed cheese in it. My husband however ordered the linguine pesto with chicken said had no flavor. Service was also pretty slow for such a small place.

Food tasted good, prices were reasonable for a "fancy" place, atmosphere wasn't as quiet as I'd expect in a place like this, kind of cramped dinning area.

I've only been for lunch and never had to wait. The service is always good and the food is better. I love their house salad and pasta with homemade sausage! The best.

Delicious. The bread the sauce they give you at the beginning is my favorite. The service is WONDERFUL. At other places we've been to in Big Bear that wasn't the case so the awesome service and being treated nicely was definitely a nice change. We went here the last night of our trip which made me sad because if i... More

Melissa was a great server and the food was fantastic. The best place in Big Bear for sure. Call easily for reservations as they are always full.

High hopes based on prior reviews, but overall experience was pretty poor. Made reservation...arrived a little early...sent away as there was no "waiting room"...came back at reserved time, waited another hour to be seated...food and service were both pretty bad...donuts and root beer float were highlight of the night.

This is our second trip to Sweet Basil Bistro. The first trip was last Christmas and it was crowded with teenagers making lots of noise so we could not do a fair review. This year I had the special veal chop and it was very good. My wife had the Mac N Cheese which was suppose to be a old... More
