Crazy busy and fun! The food was good and the pastry divine. It's all good once you get tuned into their ordering system--take a number but make sure you know what you'd like first. They can be speedy when not so busy. Sunny airy interior and friendly locals. Capitola is dreamy on a charming spring day. Enjoy!

We have visited Gayle's multiple times. The baked goods/pastries are outstanding. The Rosticceria items are just ok. We got a roast beef sandwich, which was pretty mediocre. They used to have outdoor seating that was open air. They have now made it enclosed, which is disappointing, as we wanted to eat there. Instead we got food to go and ate... More

Anything is really good and fresh here! The problem is when you look it is hard to decide what do order since all looks just so tasty. Worth the wait when there is a line.

I have been a consistent customer of Gayles for over 3 years for both business and personal meals. My job has me cater lunches for local doctors offices and I have spent almost $2,000 at Gayles just this year. I have never once canceled an order that I have made with them. I called yesterday to place an order for... More

Everything there is excellent, the cheese twists are exceptional! Coffee is fresh, heated patio. Very popular with the locals.

Make sure to review the menu on line to give you an idea of what to order. When you get there take a number and be ready to order. I ordered the polenta dish and it was really good, my kids ordered pasta and they loved it. I would go back to this place, the food was good, the price... More

Best bakery ever, baguette and all kinds of great breads and sandwiches. Pretty crowded at lunch. Must be a local favorite

I'm kind of a chai snob. I like it very spicy and gingery, and not sweet. Homemade chai is best, then chai from a bottle, then chai from a Tetra Pak (basically not worth even drinking). Gaylle's serves Third St. Chai and it's very good. I ordered a chai with soy milk, and it was divine. It was the perfect... More

I had heard of Gayles, a French-inspired bakery/rosticceria, for a long while so it was high on my list to visit. Santa Cruz seems to embrace the order at the counter and take a seat approach which, given the tourists, is probably a good idea. Walking in, there are two lines of cases; one with pre-made sandwiches, salads and cooked... More
