Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

I see other reviewers had mixed experiences. All I can say, is our experience was excellent. The waiters were very helpful and efficient. The tapas dishes were prepared beautifully. The place looks like any little bistro you might see in Spain, with wooden tables and chairs, and complete with a classical guitarist. I will be back in Carmel in November,... More

European feel, great mix of hip and traditional. Great place for small plates to share for an authentic taste of modern Spain. We enjoyed our dae night here.

Average tapas, poorly served (pace was really slow). Rarely saw our waiter. Everyone nice, but a little training would go a long way to keep this place popular. Poorly prepared scallop dish had to be deducted. We aren't going back for a while. Too bad really, we liked the people and the idea.

Hard to say what is the best characteristic of Mundaka. We started out just having wine and cocktails, but the food looked and smelled so amazing we started ordering one tapa at a time and couldn't stop. Our server was the best out of our whole week dining out in the Carmel area! Thanks 'Roberto'- our bicycle journey back to... More

Carmel can be a busy tourist town w/ all that goes along with that. When your there looking for a fun place to have a evening meal you can't go wrong w/ Mundaka. All the dishes are well thought out and if have room try the steak.

Fun little place. I have always loved tapas even though it can get quiet expensive if you are not careful. They have a good choice of plates and the service is always so helpful

I recommend this restaurant because I love Spanish tortillas and Sangria. Both were excellent at this quaint and hard to find restaurant but it was worth the hunt. Gabe, the owner, and Nico, the server, very friendly. Definitely stop in for a bite to eat. Just ask anyone and they will direct you to Mundaka. Rustic atmosphere which makes you... More

Suoer friendly owners from Barcelona so you know the tapas will be excellent. Which it was! The Bombe was our favourite, the lamb burger and meatballs came a close second. Live guitar music added to the ambience without being overwhelming in any way. Really enjoyable, will come back for sure.

Very good place to eat authentic good tapas directly from Barcelona, Spain. The staff was very knowledgeabel and the owner personally had a small chat with us as he saw that we had enjoyed the food. Good food at great price. Vibrent bar and alot of guets. Highly recommended.

Mundaka is a family place....especially if your family are all those of us who work in restaurants. Great, personal service, fair prices, fun and exciting food. Supposedly a long walk on the beach gives the body a chance to absorb some kind of healthful charged ions.....I get the same affect from spending an hour at Mundaka: a glass or two... More
