Description: Since 1980, Anton & Michel has consistently maintained an award-winning reputation for true excellence in the art of fine dining. Stylish, elegant decor and a breathtaking view of the verdant "Court of the Fountains" harmonize to create a serene and romantically intimate retreat within relaxed, modern surroundings. At this venerable establishment casual elegance, modern charm with old world tradition coalesce. Zagat Survey extolls it as “Carmel’s long-standing paean to graciousness in dining out … well-trained staff treat you like royalty … patrons make a special trip for the tableside service and spectacular flambé desserts. As quoted in the Wine Spectator, Anton & Michel is “probably the best dining experience in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea”.

At the recommendation of a friend, we made reservations at Andre & Michel's to celebrate a teenager's birthday. It was recently renovated and I have no basis of comparison, but the interior space is lovely. We were fortunate to be seated at the window overlooking the courtyard fountain. This reminds me of the old school dining of my parents' era,... More

Dropped in last night with a friend for a drink and a small bite to eat. The bar is so open and welcoming with the sofas on each side of the fireplace we decided to stay and enjoy the ambience. Started with perfectly prepared martinis and had a good chat. We were never hurried and felt as if we had... More

We love this place. The renovation looks great. The food here is always consistently awesome, especially the dinner for two with the tableside caesar salad/roast rack of lamb and flambee dessert. The staff is just fun and knowledgable as always. It's romantic to be by the window and to watch the fountain.

This place has a beautiful dining room, lovely relaxing patio, classy bar. Staff is friendly and attentive. I ordered the seafood sandwich - delicious and served with a simple salad. My husband had the lamb sliders, excellent. Lunch here was delightful. This is probably one of the best lunches in Carmel. We are certain dinner here is excellent too.

Just attended a hospitality Open House at the newly renovated Anton & Michel. They did a wonderful job of updating the appearance and opening up the space. The bar is much more open, with a beautiful Carmel Stone wall and fireplace. As you enter the restaurant, your eyes are drawn straight back to the lovely courtyard and fountain, available for... Probably one of the most beautiful restaurants. Just had a renovation that was worth every penny. Sit by the courtyard, it's gorgeous. We had the filet and the fricassee. Both were done well, however it was a meal I could get anywhere.

It has been a lovely setting for decades -- a special occasion kind of place-- , but this time we came on their last night before a major remodel. Perhaps the impending closure (indeed, the next morning workers had started to tear the place apart) caused the kitchen and service to be "off", which at their prices should not be... More

We had a wonderful lunch here - mushroom soup was to die for, along with the citrus and seafood salad. Very special

Old style (well perhaps 70s up market Italian), quiet with excellent service and equally excellent food. 4 different main courses each equally good and good wine advice. Also we took a bottle of our own as well and were not charged corkage. Sit at a window to look out over the courtyard with a pond and fountain.
