Description: Marinus features California-Regional cuisine, created by celebrated chef Cal Stamenov, featuring local organic, seasonal produce as well as regional seafood and artisan farmed meats. Taking full advantage of the resort’s pastoral location, the new design artfully combines modern comforts with the natural elegance of Carmel Valley wine country. Hand forged chandeliers and wall sconces from Normandy add drama while freshly-painted walls in soft shades and natural tones have created warmth. In addition to the signature fireplace, cozy custom chairs, linens and drapery have added texture and depth while bringing elements of the outdoors inside The four-star restaurant has been named Zagat’s “Top Restaurant in Bay Area” and received Wine Spectator magazine’s “Grand Award” since 2001 for its wine cellar. The cellar houses 1,850 different wines and a total of more than 25,000 premium bottles, including 10,000 bottles from the Bernardus Winery & Vineyard near the resort.

I was torn between eating here or Pacific's Edge in Carmel by the Sea. After speaking with some friends and hearing that Pacific's Edge was more view than great food, I chose Marinus. My wife and I selected the Tasting Menu with wine pairings. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert it was amazing. The flavors and presentation were amazing. The... More

This was one of the best meals I have had in years. It excelled in every way - service, ambiance, presentation, creativity, and taste. Only an artist could make healthy food like kale, which I normally don't care for, taste great (anchovy vinaigrette was the trick).

Marinus was excellent. I really enjoyed the dinner we had here. We both ordered the tasting menu, however mine was customized to not include any meat. Even with that change the food was still really good. The dessert was my favorite! It was pears prepared various ways with pear sorbet and almond cake. It was amazing and I'm not a... More

This was not our first time to eat at Marinus. We tend to have the fixed 8 course menu with the wine pairing. This time, the patrons were all bundled up. It was freezing. It's hard to relax for so many courses when it's so chilly. We were finally moved, only to overhear our next table saying that they wished... More

Marinus us the sugnature restaurant at Bernardus Lodge, in Carmel Valley. Even if you're not staying at the lodge, you have to try it - even if you're not in the area, is worth the trip. Food is great and service is perfect!

This was our fourth visit to Marinus. This was the first time we were disappointed in the size of our dinner. My husband and I both ordered turbot. We were stunned to receive a tiny portion on an enormous dinner plate. The fish looked lonely! Our first courses were about the same size! It is sad to eat an amuse... More

The "when did you visit" bar only as far back as 4/2012- I actually visited two years ago and was checking in to see if it was still worth going back to and and I see they are still highly regarded. Service was wonderful and after a somewhat long, dark, rainy drive from the coast the fabulous food quite restored... More

The ambience, menu choices and the prices make this restaurant a special occasion destination. We did not select the prix fixe menu that had 6 courses, as we weren't up to eating that much. The roasted mushroom soup was excellent, the carrot soup not as special. My husband though his main dish of roasted duck could have been a bit... More

We had a nice romantic dinner here on a Saturday night. The mushroom soup we had was very unique, a little rich on its own, but paired perfectly with foie gras, which was a nice surprise. We had wanted to try the full truffle risotto that we had read about, but unfortunately they did not serve it that night. We... More

We had a ladies luncheon there earlier this month so I got a good look at the dishes other ordered. The best one was by far the Ruben with fries (or salad). Mine was a burger that they gave me without a bun! I sent it back and they slapped a bun and gave it back, the burger was cold... More
