This shop was worth the stop just for the samples. I highly recommend the blue cheese stuffed olives kept in the deli case. (Perishable, but more flavorful than the jarred variety we tried)

We stopped at the Olive Pit to each lunch, but ended up going across the street to something faster. Nevertheless, they had several varieties of olives to taste (for free) and they also had a room at the back for tasting beer and wine (for a fee). They have lots of different olives, olive oils, pickled garlic, nuts, and goodies. They also sell wine, utensils, serving pieces, etc. They have wine tasting, olive tasting and olive oil tasting.
Great place, try the balsamic vinegar., we always buy it. There is olive tasting and also they have a great deli and great souveniers.

The Olive Pit really isn't what I would call a restaurant. It is a retail shop & an attraction. Every time that we pass through Corning, we stop & buy many jars of olives.
I checked out their website before embarking on our road trip to California. I was happy to see that they had added a wine tasting area...

I only dropped in once for lunch but was very pleased. The soup was terrific and the sandwich was delicious. Will be sure to drop in again the next time I am in Corning
First time going to the Olive Pit, wanted to check it out and grab some olive oil and other goodies.. asked a couple of the guys working for some help on the olive oils and he was completely clueless..
I walked up to the counter and asked the next guy for help...he was the same clueless....are you kidding me people?...
