I adore diners, and the Black Bear was across from my hotel. I ate there three times in two days. If you like kitsch, look no further: bear paraphernalia abounded. The food I had was just as I hoped: a delicious farmer's scramble with egg whites and vegetables, fruit salad, and a ton of flavor, and another scramble with more... More

Slow to no service. The plate is filled only with potato. If you go there with a group after 10pm even after you tell them your group will be there, they may serve you pie only. Our sport and all the families from the team complained how bad it is. Walk a block or two away and you will find... More

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to the bay area. It was a cute place with good food. Of course I loved the bears! Who wouldn't? Our waitress was great and the food was quick and delicious. I had the vegetarian omelet (I'm not a vegetarian) and it was really good, it came with my choice of potatoes,... More

You know a restaurant is good if you drive by five others to get there. Black Bear has attentive service, a broad menu and easy parking. You can choose from healthy through decadent.

This was just across the street from the Best Western University Lodge and an easy place to go if you are staying there and want a full breakfast. Otherwise, it's pretty much your typical diner. Good for kids. But with so many great restaurants in Davis I wouldn't bother to go.

If you like diner food, this could be your ticket. Waffles, large omelet's, steak and eggs, bacon and so on. However, I was looking for something leaner when I stayed at the nearby Aggie Inn and found it. The diner has a "Fit & Focused: Made With Egg Whites!" menu with servings under 500 calories. I had the Farmer's Scramble... More

Very hardy and fulfilling meals that are Americana at its best. Remember "portion" control; ask for a doggie bag in advance so you are not tempted to over-stuff yourself!

Conveniently located near the UCD campus, this restaurant caters to hungry students by serving large portions. Pies and baked goods can be purchased separately. Breakfast, lunch, dinner is available.

Large portions, big menu, traditional choices. A bit pricy for a quick meal but good for a hungry bunch.

The pancakes here are absolutely AWESOME. They make two different kinds of pancakes. Their regular ones are sweet cream, and they are light and fluffy and fantastic. The other ones are almond/granola pancakes, and they are very filling and really good. I usually ask for one of each, and I can never finish them. The servings are huge. We also... More
