This wasn't just a place to eat, it was an experience. Bennett was the quintessential congenial host, and served up tasty sandwiches in portions that my friends and I could hardly believe. Your choice of bread and fillings with a soft drink selection second to none. We felt instantly at home and were asked to take a seat and share... More

Wow, this was one of the highlights of a great holiday. The food was tasty, portions generous, surroundings interesting and the proprietor Bennett was super friendly and a credit to Monterey tourism. Not only is there a great selection of delicious sandwiches and deli treats, there was one of the best ranges of sodas I've ever seen. Keep up the... More

Great sandwiches and a classic deli atmosphere! We took ours to go and had a picnic. This is not a sit down restaurant. It also looked like they sold awesome cakes!

Good sandwiches on real soft Italian style bread. Filling and tasty. The place hasn't been redone ever I don't think - been going there off & on since 1980's

When I went to DLI years ago this was a perfect hangout for a sandwich and bag of chips. Close to the Presidio and cheap it was the perfect lunch place to grab a bite and head back to class. Glad to say this hasn't changed, still a great place for a sandwich made the right way at a reasonable... More

Great little hide away. Rustic and military scenery. Very busy with everyone wanting one of these fantastic sandwiches. Talked to the owner while we paid for our order. Wish he wasn't so busy because I just know he has some fantastic stories. We will be back.

This is an amazing sandwich shop with all the deli delights to go with your sandwich including a nice display of desserts. It has a symbolism of the military since Monterey is a Military town.

Went to this deli based on reviews and Monterey locals suggestions. We were grabbing a picnic lunch prior to 17 Mile Drive.Did not disappoint. The sandwiches were great and the portions were large. Plenty of choices for a great lunch. Best part was the owner. He was very helpful and treated my wife and kids well. A lot of locals... More

Located away from the main area of Monterey but easily accessible. The store looks like it was opened in the 40's and hasn't changed a bit. The owner knows everybody and what is going on in the Monterey bay area at any given moment...nice guy. The sandwiches are to die for, excellent rolls, fresh top quality ingredients and they are... Great combo sandwich with meatballs and sausage. The meat and cheese is very generous. I actually had to use a fork to eat the sandwich. Yum! This is a real deli with excellent food at a great price. And the owner is a sweet, local man with a heart of gold. I'll be back.
