Prior to attending a family wedding at Tarpy's, my cousin, the bride, asked if there was an elevator to the reception area to accommodate a wheelchair. She was told there was no elevator, but there was a "ramp in the back". After the ceremony I asked about the ramp, as I needed to get my 82 year old wheelchair bound... More

This place was recommended by a guidebook on CA so we thought we would give it a try. It is an attractive enough setting, especially the outside garden eating area. The food was not out of this world great, but it was pretty good. The pork tenderloin was very tasty, as was the homemade banana cream pie. Hubby had the... More

We have passed by here for years, too anxious to stop to get to Monterey, or too rushed to get home on the way out. So, we decided to make a trip from Salinas for the express purpose of trying it out. OK, been there, done that...moving right along. For starters, the property is very unusual and interesting, with lots... More

We loved the menu for us and for our dog. The patio was wonderful and the service was very accommodating. A bit cold in the later part of the day but the space heater did the trick. The spud appetizer was enjoyed by all. Great for fish and steak. My sis had the right call on this place. We will... More

Thank you for the great review! We are glad you enjoyed dining out on our patio with your pup. It does get chilly being so close to the coast, but luckily we have those great heaters to warm you right up! We sincerely hope you join us again soon. More

Had a family lunch for a pre mothers day lunch. Although we had reservations for 12 they seemed understaffed. Slow to get menus. slow to get food. Orders were mixed up and had the nerve to charge for a side dish that they got wrong in the first place ( didn't see it until I got home) The food is... More

My family, friends and I have lived in Monterey for many years. I have been to Tarpy's, Rio Grill in Carmel, and Montrio more times than I can count. This particular day was a bit different from the majority of my dining experiences in the past. We, a party of three, arrived at the host station at about 12:15 on... More

My husband and I were looking for a restaurant where he could get seafood and I could get something other than seafood. The bellman at our hotel recommended this "roadhouse." After looking at a sample menu online, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with the upscale atmosphere of this "roadhouse." It was beautifully decorated and... More

Seated promptly with a reservation, we enjoyed a great meal in a quiet room decorated with paintings we liked. The food was excellent, prepared to perfection. Substituions not a problem. Drinks menu on an iPad. Deserts to die for. Service above par. Then when we discovered a flat tire after leaving, with a spare but a wimpy jack, the staff... More

Twelve of us came here to celebrate the completion of the Big Sur Marathon event, and our group was given a table that as closely approximated my request as possible (near windows with lots of natural light). Our waiter was efficient and effective, and the meals were delicious (if a bit on the pricey-for-the-value side, as my $47 rack of... More
