There are so many restaurants that serve dim sum in the SGV and most of them are good. Ocean Star is our go-to place for dim sum. Not only do we get 15% off each time for being regular customers we also enjoy the spacious restaurant and the great service here. If you do not see something you want, just... More

It was a bit of drive to get to Monterey Park from Santa Monica but was totally worth it. Very tasty dim sum with good service. They came to change our plate and refill the tea pot when needed. We had shumai, sticky rice, fried noodle, egg tarts and so on. All of them were very tasty and the price... More

If you want to come to the SGV and have dim sum, this is the place to have it. The carts with all varieties of dim sum are costantly buzzing by. The atmosphere is loud, as in all Chinese restaurants in the SGV. It gets crowded for dim sum fast on Sat. and Sunday, so be prepared to take a... More

Went there twice on our recent trip to So Cal. They have tons of different kinds of dim sum for lunch and an extensive dinner menu. We even ordered something that wasn't on the menu and the owner came up to us and told us he was sending one of his employees (to nearby grocery store) to get the ingredients!... More

We've made several trips to Ocean Star and found it's best to get there before noon for dim sum.The place gets packed quickly and the noise level doesn't help. It took a while for our preferred dishes to show up. Our favorite, the steam-cooked pork buns seemed to have less meat this time. The duck wasn't warm but the rest... More

This place is just great. We where there on a Saturday and the place was packed. We were the only non-Chinese group, but the staff is very nice! The cart ladies don't speak much English but they are so nice! I love the picture menu, which helps me since I don't speak Chinese. I would point to the picture and... More

If a dim sum restaurant doesn't have a long wait on a weekend or a holiday morning, is it worth going in? We arrived at Ocean Star at 11.30 am and got seated after a 30-40 minute wait, it was crowded and buzzing. I didn't mind the wait as it told me there was good things to come. When we... More

As a result of the poor Dim Sum selections available in West LA, we made the drive for a Sunday brunch and were not disappointed. Terrific selections from never ending carts are offered in a very large banquet room. Very affordable, with large portions. We will be back.

My wife's birthday coincided with Easter and she wanted a birthday meal that was distinct from all the Easter brunches. We like dim sum but haven't gone in quite a while and there seem to be fewer really good Chinese restaurants on the Westside of Los Angeles. Thanks to a little sleuthing on Trip Advisor, I found the Ocean Star... More

Good variety of items for the money. The only drawback was the dessert cart. We had to request for the cart to be brought out by the time we were done with food. As it was, we only got the egg custard tarts. (We had a party of 10 at our table and a couple of them never had dim... More
