Great food with outside dining and heaters. I had the pollo with mole sauce and it was spicy goodness. Sadly, no room for dessert.
Food was fresh and delicious. A step up from typical Mexican fare. Offered a variety of dishes and margaritas were great.
This Mexican restaurant was recommended by our hotel as good authentic food at a reasonable price. It didn't disappoint in any way. The food was tasty and the menu featured some interesting, non-standard choices. The service was very fast. It's a large place and the staff knows how to get the food out quickly. The atmosphere is pleasant with some... More
Our hotel recommended it but we thought it was average. The margeuritas are over priced. The food we ordered was rather bland (tasted on pare with homemade meals). The chicken was very dry and the load of cheese on it didn't cover that. Maybe ir was an off night.
Hola Sue ... sorry to hear that we didn't meet expectations. And since you live in BC ... hard to get you back to give us another try. You are right even great restaurants (not sure we qualify, but we are striving for greatness) can sometimes deliver substandard plates. Sounds like that may have been the case during your visit.... We went with a friend who has been here before. I have read the other reviews and agree the food is not super spicy. However, I may lead a sheltered life, but I've never seen chicharrones on the menu anywhere. To the waiter's credit, he warned me that it was pork rind. Not anything like any pork rind I've ever... Glad you enjoyed the chicharron ... definitivamente not an everyday type of dish!!! We tend to stay toward the middle of the road with the level of heat in our dishes but for people like you who might enjoy a bit more heat ... may I recommend asking for a couple of "Chiles Toreados" (grilled, salted Jalapeño chiles) that go... Even if you drive up and it looks incredibly, impossible busy, give them some time. Have margarita or 2 and just wait a bit. You'll get in and be rewarded. Great Mole' sauces.
Thanks for the nice review Jimster ... much appreciated. Glad to hear you enjoy the Mole Sauce at El Mirasol. It is a labor of love for Chuy and Lisbet to make those sauces from scratch and I will pass along your compliments to both of them. ¡Gracias! More
Several people told us this was the best Mexican restaurant in Palm Springs; if so, its a shame there isn't really good Mexican food in the city. Nothing to write home about.
Bruce ... thanks for the feedback on your visit. Can you share what you ordered if you have time? Helpful for us to hear your selection when we work to improve. It has been my experience that dishes like Scallops in Pipian and Mole Poblano made from scratch along with handmade fresh corn tortillas made in-house are not typical of... More
Dined here with my wife and son. Since children are usually impatient, the fact that service was fast was definitely a plus. The food is average and the decor is tired looking.
