Description: For over 18 years Antonio Varia has been delighting the palates of the Central Coast with his inventive yet traditional Northern Italian cuisine. Using only the freshest local and imported ingredients, Buona Tavola offers a romantic garden setting to enjoy fine dining lunch and dinner. The esteemed Zagat Survey gave Buona Tavola the highest ratings of any restaurant in the county, calling it "Superb dining with great wine in a charming setting... one of the best between Los Angeles and San Francisco." The loyal staff at Buona Tavola still consists of more than a handful of the original opening crew, and as you walk through the front door you truly become a part of the family. The skill that comes with hard-won years of experience and the area's freshest seasonal ingredients are apparent in every dish served. Plus the main ingredient comes from Antonio himself: "I cook with love!"

Wow, this restaurant brought tears to my eyes. We went to this wonderful restaurant on a Wednesday night. They have a one-half off special on all bottles of wine on Wednesdays, so we had a wonderful bottle of Dauo wine for only $26. I had the tortellini dish with spinach and veal. It was some of the best pasta I... More

Primer-I grew up learning to cook italian, took my first job in an italian restaurant, and had two guests with me who lived in italy. Review- All of the pasta dishes were under seasoned, very small, and stuck together. All the dishes came out at random times and none of them close together. The simplest dishes were worthless and the... More

After a day in the wine country we decided we wanted a good authentic italian restaurant. We were staying at The Wild Coyote and it was highly recommended to come here. We were not disappointed. We got there as the doors were opening and there was a steady stream of diners all night. I was surprised how busy for a... More

Our starter was artisanal salami made by the owners -- I highly recommend the Barolo salami. You can also buy a salami to take with you at the end of the evening. The grilled branzino special was perfectly prepared. Portions are large, so if you're a light eater you can easily split a main if you're getting an appetizer like... More

Stopped here for dinner on our way through town for a weekend. The service was terrible. We sat for at least 15 minutes before even being offered a drink. The bruschetta was horrible. Charged $5 to split 2 salads (I understand a split plate fee for an entree but a salad?). It was over 2 hours until our entree came.

Buona Tavola is (mostly) Italian haute cuisine. Excellent food and service, constantly changing menu. They have a pleasant patio in back (with heat when necessary.Parking is kind of an issue, due in part to the Fremont Theatre next door.

I really don't get why this place is so highly rated. Went here with a group of 6, and both my g/f and I felt this place was way overpriced. First off, $16 corkage is just too much to charge someone. This place is basically saying, don't bring that special wine you've just discovered. The g/f and I both ordered... More

We had heard many positive reviews and raves for this restaurant. I love italian food but this place was pretty pricey and did not deliver the food quality for the cost level. We took a bottle of our own wine and they did allow that and charged $16 for corkage, thought that was a little heavy. I had a ceasar... More

We loved our meal at Buona Tavola. We had homemade pasta (tortellini filled with meats) and a pair of quail stuffed with pear and prosciutto, all prepared perfectly. Our starter of fennel soup was wonderful. Now we have a second restaurant to return to in Paso Robles (besides our favorite, Artisan).

This restaurant was recommended by someone at the James Tobin winery and she was right! Easy to find, nice atmosphere and wonderful Italian cuisine. An exgtensive wine list, although only a few from the area. My partner tried the feature salad with gorgonzola cheese and found it to be very good. For a main course I had the pumpkin/ricotta pasta... More
