Wonderful sandwiches with delicious side nibbles buffet. Landscaped patio set up. Second generation owners maintaining the same good quality of their parents who established the restaurant in the 70s. Great place to meet up with a friend.

Back Street is a family owned eatery serving excellent sandwiches, salads and side dishes. You order inside and are served in the garden outside. This is a pleasant place for a couple or larger group of friends to meet. We like it so much we were married there.

My wife and I went to Back Street for lunch recently on the recommendations in Trip Advisor. Everything we had read was true...it's a hidden gem in Riverside. Sandwiches are prepared to order and were delicious. The staff made us feel welcome and at home. Each sandwich comes with a side (great cole slaw by the way) and a buffet... More

There are so many vegetarians and vegans these days that it surprises me when I come to a place this marvelous and can't find good, hearty vegetarian options. The only sandwich on the menu that doesn't include meat is a Swiss cheese one, piled HIGH with Swiss cheese, I must add. It's a bit much. There doesn't seem to be... More

Wonderful sandwich shop nestled on a side street. I've eaten there for 20+ years and it's just consistently good. Get there just before lunch or just after lunch or you'll be waiting in line. Wonderful outdoor patio eating.

The perfect place for lunch with friends. I didn't know service like that existed anymore. They treat you like a guest in their home. The outdoor dining is amazing. It was crowded, but wasn't noisy. All this and the food is delicious. The sandwiches are made to order, yet they are fast and the wait is very short. There are... More

Great sandwiches made fresh by your directions by very pleasant friendly servers. Tables outside on the patio. Comfortable, delicious & plenty of food. I haven't been to Riverside in a while, but when I lived there, this was absolutely, "The Best!!"

This place has been here forever. The sandwiches are simple and refreshing....but the food is just part of the experience. The location is hidden but once found it is this wonderful brick patio. Great fountain, stain glass open deck with seating. Mature plants and trees with umbrella hanging from to make more shade. It is truly a wonderful place to... More

I have been going here for over 20+ years. The restaurant is in an old house with a great back yard and courtyard which you can eat in. Everything is made to order, great portions, the freshest food possible and the best banana cream pie on earth. If you can find it, you will always remember it.

The hidden Back Street is definitely a treasure worth digging for, especially if you are an out-of-town guest hosted by an "O-R" or "Old Riversider". Almost impossible to find, you'll need a guide to locate The Back Street's parking lot off Brockton Ave and be led to the unpretentious restaurant entrance and the open-airish, unusual sandwich ordering counter deep within...
