My wife and I had reservations for diner. We arrived on time. They said it would be a wait.Sugested the bar. No room at the bar and several customers standing waiting for their table. The noise level was intollerable along with the thought of waiting 30 min. We left and we will never return.

After many trips to the Bay area, this was our first time staying in San Mateo so we relied on Zagat and TripAdvisor to find a dinner restaurant. We were very happy with Acqua Pazza. Our waiter was from Napoli, and when we had pizza as an appetizer, he offered hot oil as a topping -- something we haven't seen... More

Had dinner last week at Acqua's. Place was very busy, with everyone running around the floor to keep us all happy. Unfortunely they were out of the veal so I opted for the Steak Special. "Bisteca Fiorentino". The sauce on top of meat was a porcini mushroom and it was delicious. It really complimented the NY cut. The veggies were... More

This place ROCKS! The food is fantastic, waiters personable and attentive, and if you're lucky you just might get serenaded by the owner. Highly recommend!

We can't seem to stay away from here! The food is consistantly wonderful. Love the anti-pasta and all the dishes I have tried have been yummy. My husband speaks Italian so it makes it even more fun for him to talk to the waiters, which are a also very friendly. We always take visitor there for a great dining experience!

Nice little neighborhood gem in the downtown area of San Mateo. Met some girlfriends there on a Tuesday night. It wasn't too full that night and the wait staff was great. They have some unique drinks (mojito with fresh strawberries and basil?) I ordered it without the basil as i wanted the more traditional version and they brought in a... More

My husband and I had dinner here with our son and daughter-in-law, who had dined here the week before and loved it. I can personally recommend the spinach salad and tortino,an unusual vegetarian presentation starring artichokes and hazelnuts, which was very tastey. We were a bit of a nuisance, asking for a table in a different place because we wanted... More

As the name Acqua Pazza (water crazy) tells, they are Italian seafood restaurant where some niche dishes are being served. Weekends may need reservations but worth a try if you are a fish dish lover like me. Buon appetito!

A very good restaurant, the appetizers were fantastic and in some ways a highlight of the meal. The waiter we had was very helpful and friendly without being overbearing. I had the lamb special and one of the best lamb dishes I ever had. When back in San Mateo, I'll definitely be going here again for dinner.

Although we had walked by this restaurant many times this is the first time we ate at this restaurant and we were quite delighted with the good serivce and quality of the food.
