Description: Inspired by the slow food movement of Italy, Osteria Coppa specializes in artisanal pasta and pizza while embracing a fresh, seasonal farm-to-table style. Handcrafted pasta and pizza, farm fresh toppings, artisan cheeses, savory house-made sauces, and house cured salumi reflect Executive Chef Chanan Kamen’s profound passion for making his cuisine from scratch using traditional, old world techniques. Relax in a casual, urban setting in the heart of downtown San Mateo. Grab a seat at the bar, dine tableside indoors, join friends at the community table, or enjoy the sunshine outdoors (with heaters and shade umbrellas) on the festive “Coppa Cabana” patio!

The food at Osteria Coppa is delicious. The Margherita pizza was devine; tender crust with perfect tomato sauce and beautiful mozzarella slices. The Fettuccine, Smoked Prosciutto and Pea Greens entre' was great, also. Try this new restaurant; the food and atmosphere will draw you back again and again.

Dinner was a really fine and pleasurable event here; this was the 3rd time I have dined here in 2 years, and it gets better each time. We wanted to have a pizza as an appetiser because they looked (and reported as) really great, but decided it was more important to have some of their pasta to share as a... More

This is a nice/somewhat upscale but yet lively place downtown San Mateo. The bartender is amazing. His goal in life is to make a perfect drink for you and if there is anything you don't like, he is eager to listen, take recommendations, and please you. 5 stars for the drinks. So, come here and sit at the bar rather... More

We had a fabulous meal here that exceeded all of our expectations. We sampled a fair number of dishes among four people so that we could, as first timers, experience the range of options. The only item we'd rate as merely good was the opening potato leek soup, which had nothing special about it. The salads were unusual and delicious,... More

The one time we ate here the food was very mediocre, the service was terribly slow, and I had to ask 3 people for ground pepper before some was brought me in a little dish. The waitress had so much attitude I swore I'd never be back. The prices were terribly high and I don't know how they have so... More

My cousins brought me here for dinner the same night as some big baseball game was going on. The food was wonderful, and the service was great and friendly. I loved the food, and the staff were great with my cousin's young daughter, even to the point that one of the staff ran after us with the 'leftovers' from her... More

Decided to hide from trick or treaters, so we went early. Happy hour with two specialty drinks and four wine selections, great price. Little Gems Caesar salad (the nice small pieces of romaine) dressed perfectly. We shared the duck pappardelle and sausage, speck, cremini mushroom pizza. Other couple had bolognese with gluten free pasta and it was delicious. They had... More

We had a corporate dinner for 18 here, and I was impressed. The food really was 5 stars. From the super-tasty, thinly-sliced House Cured Salumi Platter, the Fritto Misto platter with calamari-style preserved lemons (wow, loved this), the Avocado with cherry tomato salad and creamy lemon dressing, the dark and crusty Italian bread with the olive-oil balsamic dip. And then... More

Love this little spot especially the outdoor patio during the day -- express lunch special is wonderful and a great deal -- soup of the day or salad paired with choice of sandwich, pizza, calzone or pasta. Very fresh ingredients and deliciously prepared.
