Had lunch with the wife. Not one of our usual places to eat in Solvang. The food a bit pricey except for the Abelskevers.

No visit to Solvang would be complete without a visit to Solvang Restaurant for some Aebelskiver (fried donut balls with raspberry jam). We love those things! The restaurant was also featured in the movie Sideways.
This is a nice little coffee shop. They specialize in Ableskeebers, but they have a nice coffee shop menu. We did in fact have the Ableskeebers , but we also had the cobbler, which I think is better than the Ableskeebers. My wife had a grilled veggie sandwich and we ordered a side of the sausage. Very tasty and very...

I had a Danish hot dog with onion strings and pickled cucumbers with fries - the fries were ok, and the hot dog was really good, but it absolutely fell apart. Still tasty.
My husband wanted to try the creamed herring. It came with a variety of veggies and some bread to make sandwiches with, and it was good. We...

The staff here were great, and judging by the length of the line we had to wait in to get our aebelskivers, this is probably among the better places in town to get them. We took aebelskivers to go, and they were boxed nicely for us.
We do wish they had been slightly more generous with the amount of raspberry...

Plenty of Danish kitsch, with a menu specialty being a sort of Danish doughnut hole with an unpronounceable name. Otherwise, just an average coffee shop.
The kids liked it especially. Not inexpensive but then you are walking up and buying it at the window or inside at the counter. Not very friendly service; made to feel like a tourist from whom they just wanted your money. Anyhow, great raspberry jam topping. Good pancake. NAturally, we will go back.
If you're looking for Danish atmosphere, this is the place to go. Come sit in carved booths and eat the Danish delicacy abelskiever, which you can read all about in their menu.
I quietly ordered no ice in my water as my companions bantered with our server and he brought it as I asked. However he forgot an iced tea....

The lamb shank was good but, the mashed potatoes were from a box (confirmed by our server). The pork chop was also good. Not expensive but, a bit disappointing.
