Too late. Castlegarth served its last meal on Sept 27th, 2013. The chef, Matthew Brearley, has moved onward to the cafe at St. Paul's University in Ottawa.
I went to Castlegarth for my birthday after reading great reviews. However, after driving for nearly an hour to get there, I was dismayed about the quality of the food. A couple dishes were good, but mostly it was bland or awful. I sent back one dish because it was inedible, but they PUT IT ON THE BILL AND REFUSED... More
We went to Castle Garth on the recommendation of friends and six of us were impressed with the meal and service. The restaurant is in a restored older home with beautifully restored hard wood floors. As it appeared the downstairs of the restaurant was full we were seated upstairs in their newly opened dining room. Some might complain menu choices... More

Can't say enough about the quality of the natural ingredients used in the preparation of the meals. Basically all locally sourced for some amazing meals. If you're in the mood for something different and wonderful this is the place.

Matthew and Jennifer deal with local suppliers as much as possible. The ingredients are as close as their garden. The staff are knowledgable about the food and the wine and beer... More

My husband started with the Seared Scallops, followed by the whole trout and ending with a trio of tasting desserts -a pot de creme, coffe bean brittle and walnut drop cookies. I... More
